START WITH NOTHING. MINE YOUR WAY UP.
Ore Bastards is a top-down space mining sandbox about starting with a fragile ship, an almost empty bank account, and one simple plan:
Get rich without getting blown apart.
Mine asteroids, haul ore to stations, trade resources, complete contracts, explore distant regions, fight pirates, and more.
Every expedition can lead to valuable deposits, abandoned wrecks, ambushes, distress signals, strange discoveries, or the piece of equipment that completely changes your ship.
Extract different ores and crystals from asteroid fields across the galaxy.
Manage your limited cargo space, compare prices between stations, protect valuable resources in your station stash, and invest your profits in better ships, equipment, and more.
Some regions are relatively safe.
Others contain rare resources, stronger enemies, and opportunities worth risking everything for.
The farther you travel, the greater the danger and the potential reward.
Equip your ship with mining, battle, and missile turrets.
Install internal systems that improve your:
Mining power
Weapon damage
Shields
Engines
Scanners
Repair systems
Cargo capacity
And more
Ships, turrets, and internal systems use procedurally generated statistics, modifiers, and rarities.
A newly discovered item may increase your mining yield, improve your firepower, expand your cargo capacity, strengthen your shields, or push your ship toward an entirely different build.
There is no single perfect ship.
Speed, armor, shields, cargo space, mining efficiency, weapon range, damage, and many other attributes all compete for your limited equipment slots.
Some equipment grants active abilities that can change the outcome of an expedition.
Use abilities to:
Overcharge your shields
Push your engines beyond their normal limits
Disable nearby enemies with an electromagnetic pulse
Repair critical damage
Boost your mining systems
Overclock your turrets
And more
The right ability used at the right moment can save your ship, your cargo, and possibly your questionable career choices.
Travel between sectors and regions using a three-layer navigation system:
Galaxy Map
Region Navigation
Local Scanner
Discover:
Stations
Gates
Mining zones
Wreck sites
Pirate activity
Mission locations
Unknown signals
And more
Plot courses across the galaxy and use cruise travel to cover enormous distances within regions.
The map records the places you discover, allowing you to return to valuable mining areas, dangerous locations, mission targets, the wreck of your former ship, and other important discoveries.
Not every signal reveals itself immediately.
A distant contact may lead to:
A rich ore field
A crystal pocket
A pirate stash
An abandoned freighter
A derelict ship
A hidden pirate base
A navigation beacon
An escape pod
A capital ship graveyard
An anomalous structure
An ambush
Something that does not belong to any known human faction
And more
Some discoveries provide valuable equipment, resources, or information.
Others reveal new locations, begin chains of events, or lure careless captains into a trap.
Every unknown signal is a reason to travel a little farther.
Stations offer missions based on their purpose, location, and surrounding threats.
Take contracts involving:
Ore deliveries
Cargo transport
Pirate hunting
Station defense
Miner escorts
Salvage operations
Prototype weapon testing
Dangerous expeditions
And more
Mission destinations can be tracked through Ship Info and displayed directly on the map.
Not every station offers every type of contract, so travelling between stations creates new opportunities.
Pirates may:
Attack miners
Defend valuable locations
Occupy hidden bases
Ambush travellers
Hunt you across open space
And more
Use specialized turret types, focus priority targets, manage your shields, repair damaged systems, and activate ship abilities during combat.
Mining turrets are designed to break asteroids efficiently.
Battle turrets are built to destroy ships.
Missile turrets provide heavy firepower against dangerous targets.
Choosing the right configuration is often more important than simply installing the most expensive equipment.
You may discover escape pods and stranded survivors while exploring.
Rescued crew members can provide permanent bonuses to:
Mining
Combat
Navigation
Cargo management
Repair systems
And more
Each survivor has a name, profession, and personal history.
Bringing someone home may be more valuable than anything carried inside their escape pod.
Ore Bastards uses station-based saving and meaningful ship loss.
Every journey away from safety carries a real risk.
When your ship is destroyed, you may escape in a pod, transmit a distress signal, and wait for a rescue ship.
Returning safely does not restore everything you lost.
Your destroyed ship remains in space for a limited time, allowing you to return to the wreck and attempt to recover some of its equipment.
Failure costs you.
But failure can also become the beginning of another story.
NPC miners continue working asteroid fields.
Pirates search for vulnerable targets.
Stations provide different services, equipment, missions, trading opportunities, and more.
Battles and encounters may begin without your involvement.
You are not the chosen savior of the universe.
You are another captain trying to survive, make money, and avoid becoming a permanent point of interest on somebody else's scanner.
Become:
An industrial miner
A wandering trader
A pirate hunter
A deep-space explorer
Or something entirely different
Build:
A fast mining ship
A heavily armored combat vessel
A missile platform
A cargo hauler
A balanced multipurpose ship
Or an unstable combination held together by spare parts and financial desperation
There is always another region to explore, another ship to discover, another fortune to claim, and another threat waiting in the dark.
And while you race from one adventure to another across the endless reaches of space, your OREAMP music player will always be ready to play the game's soundtrack.
Choose a track, skip forward, replay your favorites, and give every mining expedition, pirate battle, and long-distance journey the music it deserves.
Because exploring an endless galaxy in silence would be absolutely unacceptable.

Bug FixWe identified and fixed a rare issue where a ship’s maximum shield capacity could become stuck at around 20 points after certain ship-switching and save/load situations.Selling structuresWe also added a new Sell Structure option for player-owned Mining Camps and Stations. If you no longer want to operate a structure, you can now sell it either from Operations (O) → Structures or from the structure’s own management panel.Selling a structure releases its capacity slot, and a portion of the resources invested in the Station is returned to the player as Credits.Sold structures are not removed from the world. Instead, ownership is transferred to NPC operators, who continue running the Mining Camp or Station as an independent facility. Thanks to everyone who reported these issues and helped us track them down.
Read full update on Steam ↗Hello Bastards, With this update, Mining Camps and Player Stations arrive in Ore Bastards, adding a new layer of ownership, expansion and long-term progression to the game.Until now, finding a rich part of space usually meant one thing: fill the cargo hold, sell the ore, and eventually move on.Now you can decide that some places are worth staying for.Mining CampsDuring your travels, you may discover valuable Rich Ore Fields scattered across space.Instead of simply mining them and leaving, you can now claim suitable locations and establish your own Mining Camp.Building a camp requires an actual investment. Credits alone aren't enough — construction materials must be transported to the site, turning expansion into something you physically prepare for rather than something purchased from a menu.Once operational, the camp's mining drones begin working the surrounding resource field. That m...
Read full update on Steam ↗Hello Bastards,A new major progression system has arrived in Ore Bastards: Artifacts.Artifacts are extremely rare and unusual objects that can be discovered while exploring the galaxy. They are not ordinary equipment, and they do not use the usual rarity tiers. Finding one should feel like discovering something genuinely special. Each Artifact provides its own combination of bonuses and a unique special ability.Depending on what you discover, Artifacts can improve things such as:Mining and combat performanceScanner range and exploration capabilitiesShields and survivabilityCargo capacityAcceleration and maneuverabilityMaximum ship speed and Cruise speedThis means Artifacts can significantly change how a ship feels. For example, a large and normally slow ship can become considerably faster with the right Navigation-focused Artifacts. Combined with Engines, Skills, crew bonuses and active...

Read full update on Steam ↗Engine System UpdateA new modular Engine System has been added to Ore Bastards.Ships can now equip and replace their engines directly from the Station Outfitter. Engines are divided into Small, Medium, Large, and Heavy classes, and only engines compatible with your ship size can be installed.Different engines affect your ship's speed, acceleration, and other engine-related performance values. By upgrading your engine, you can currently improve these characteristics by up to around 20%.This is only the first layer of the system. Once the upcoming Skill Tree, Artifacts, and Perks systems are integrated, it will be possible to improve a ship's speed, acceleration, and handling characteristics by up to 100% through a combination of upgrades and build choices. It is also worth remembering that the Active Skills already available in the game can provide temporary tactical boosts to ship perf...
Read full update on Steam ↗Hi Bastards!Today’s update focuses on two frequently requested improvements: proper high-resolution rendering and inventory sorting.Native 1440p & High-Resolution RenderingWe identified an issue affecting players using 1440p and other resolutions above 1080p.Previously, the game could run in a 2560×1440 window while the actual game world was still being rendered internally at 1920×1080 and then scaled up. This could make the image appear blurry, jagged, or lower-resolution than expected. The rendering system has now been revised so that supported high resolutions are rendered natively. For example:1920×1080 now renders at 1920×10802560×1440 now renders at 2560×14403840×2160 now renders at 3840×2160The visible gameplay area remains the same, so higher-resolution players do not gain a larger field of view — the same scene is simply rendered using more pixels. We’ve tested the new system an...
Read full update on Steam ↗Hi Bastards! We’ve released a small update focused on player feedback, usability, and accessibility.Mission Navigation ImprovementsMission location information in Ship Info > Jobs is now much easier to recognize as an interactive button.Previously, the yellow location text could easily be mistaken for normal text. The new design makes it much clearer that you can click it to locate the mission target on the appropriate map.Long-Distance Contract WarningsMission boards can now warn you when a contract may require a particularly long journey. The game estimates travel time using your current ship and its actual cruise performance. If the estimated travel time exceeds approximately one minute, the mission will be marked as a:LONG-DISTANCE CONTRACTThe mission screen will also tell you when the objective is located in another region or another sector. This means a mission is no longer conside...
Read full update on Steam ↗Display, Pause and Strategic View ImprovementsThis hotfix focuses on display compatibility and making the pause and strategic-view systems behave more naturally.Updated the map positioning and scaling for monitors using different resolutions, including 4K displays. When the game is frozen with the ALT key, spaceships, asteroids, pirates, projectiles, and other objects now remain visible instead of disappearing.Mouse-wheel zoom can now be used while the game is paused with ALT.ALT pause remains active when entering and leaving the strategic zoom-out level; the game resumes only when the player explicitly unpauses it.Removed the large spyglass icon from the strategic zoom-out view, as its purpose was unclear and it unnecessarily occupied screen space.Thank you to everyone who reported these issues and helped us improve the interface across different resolutions and play styles.
Read full update on Steam ↗During the first day of Early Access, no game-breaking issues were reported to us. The adjustments below were made in response to player feedback, with the goal of improving clarity, usability, and the overall design of several systems. The Load Insurance Record option on the destruction screen is now fully functional.Distress Call information now explains that a response may take up to 150 seconds and that the rescue ship must physically return to the nearest station.Rescue-screen ESC instructions have been corrected. The Load screen now clearly indicates that saving and insurance synchronization are available only while docked at a space station. All new and revised interface messages have been localized into all 11 supported languages.Stations with identical names in the same region now receive numbered identifiers, such as Service Dock 1 and Service Dock 2, making mission destinatio...
