About this game

Description

Supplied by the Steam store

WAKE UP, RUNNER

BLACKMARKET is a first-person roguelite room runner. You are a runner in EDEN, a buried facility of numbered doors, sodium light and poured concrete, floor stacked on floor. They tell you there is a way topside. Run.

THE CORE LOOP

Go through numbered rooms, one after another, against a timer. Reach the next Saferoom before it hits zero: drop through the hatch and you're safe for a moment. Then the next rooms open, and the timer is shorter.

If the timer runs out, something comes down the halls for you.

MOVEMENT IS THE GAME

Slide: carry speed under shutters, down stairs and through low gaps

Wall-kick: kick off walls mid-air and turn a fall into forward speed

Pound: slam down from height and bank the impact into momentum

Vault and climb: mantle crates, ledges and catwalk rails without breaking stride

Swim: wade, dash and pull yourself out of flooded halls

THE APOSTLE

Every Saferoom has a screen, and on it is the Apostle. The Apostle deals: changes to how you move, gear, keys, favours. Some cost Scrip, some cost seconds off your clock, some cost worse.

Spring Heels: jump higher

Spare Grip: one more wall-kick before you land

Greased Soles: slides carry further

Stair Diver: downhill slides pick up speed

No two runs build the same runner.

EARLY ACCESS

BLACKMARKET is free, made by a small studio in Osaka and built in the open. The full loop is here now. New sectors, entities and deals come through Early Access, shaped by how you play.

Inspired by Roblox games "DOORS" by LSPLASH and "GRACE" by The Fartering Few, "Pizza Tower" by Tour De Pizza, "The Binding of Isaac" by Edmund McMillen, "Inscryption" by Daniel Mullins, "FAITH" by Airdorf Games, Western esotericism, Kabbalah and the Holy Bible.
