About this game

Description

Supplied by the Steam store

Pawn Shop Days is a pixel-art pawnshop simulator where a good deal starts with a close look and a few awkward questions. Buy goods from visitors, restore them and sell them on. Invest your earnings in equipment, displays and security — while keeping enough cash for the next working day.

Every bargain has a personality

Some people are clearing out their homes before a move. Others are selling equipment they no longer need. And someone is back with another possession, absolutely certain that this time he will win it all back.

Hear the seller out, inspect the goods and name your price. One person will take a refusal in stride; another will argue. Sometimes you will have to explain that sentimental value is not a line on your price list. Bring a sharp eye, a little patience and the occasional dry remark.

Give things a second chance

A few scuffs can hide a worthwhile find. Polish a suitable surface, replace a battery, solder a faulty connection or find a missing accessory. Inspection and restoration put you in charge of the work.

Decide whether a repair is worth the investment or whether to sell an item as it is. Count the purchase price, parts and materials: a high asking price is not the same as profit in the till.

Check the goods. Question the story.

“Barely used.” “Definitely mine.” “The papers are around somewhere.” Sellers can be mistaken, evasive or unable to keep their own stories straight. Compare their claims with the condition, included accessories, markings and available documents.

Find a bargain, expose a fake or walk away from a dubious offer. Stolen goods can attract a police inspection; selling a counterfeit can bring an unhappy buyer back to your counter. One extra question before paying can save more than a clever bit of haggling.

Build the shop with money you have earned

Buy tools and repair equipment, improve your displays, expand the premises and protect your stock. Choose what matters now: new ways to earn, a smoother working day or better security.

Set prices and manage your stock. Sell sooner or hold out for a better offer — the choice is yours. Rent, electricity and the rest of the daily bills will still need paying.

Remember the people across the counter

Meet 36 characters: everyday people, eccentrics and sellers with especially convincing explanations. Some return with new belongings and remember how your previous meeting ended. Purchases, refusals and conflicts shape the next chapter of their stories.

Meanwhile, a kitten sleeps in the corner of the counter. You can pet it. It prefers to leave the appraisal of questionable valuables to you.
