About this game

Description

Supplied by the Steam store

Your cursor is their god

Cursor Cult is a desktop companion. A tiny pixel-art island docks along the edge of your screen, and two tribes live on it, one at each end. They worship the Sky Hand: your mouse cursor. Every 20 seconds their priests read the trail your cursor left behind as an omen, and steer the tribe by it.

You never have to play it. Just use your computer, and your everyday mouse habits become the tribe's scripture. When you feel like it, gesture on purpose: draw circles, shake the cursor, or rest it over the island.

Read the omens

The Great Wheel (circles): farming, more fields and farmers

The Pillar of Heaven (long vertical strokes): industry, lumber, quarries and workshops

The Long Road (long horizontal strokes): trade, markets and merchants

The Storm of Wrath (frantic shaking): arms and towers; relations sour, and war may follow

The Gentle Breeze (slow, gentle wandering): peace

The Gaze of the Sky (resting over the island): faith, temples and priests

The Dance of Stars (moving along the far edge of the screen): learning, libraries and scholars

The Silence (not moving): nothing changes, and long silences make the people uneasy

Each reading is written faintly in gold across the island, and each omen has its own voice.

A living island

Two tribes grow from the Stone Age through Bronze, Iron, Kingdoms and the Industrial Age, with weapons, ships, aircraft and buildings that change with every age.

Lead one tribe, the other, or both. Each tribe hears only its own half of the screen.

Relations drift with your omens. Wars break out and end in peace, and no tribe is ever wiped out.

Hover still over villagers and they kneel in awe. Shake the cursor over a village to call down lightning.

Made to sit on your desktop all day

Transparent and always on top. Clicks pass through everywhere except the island itself.

Dock it to the bottom, top, left or right edge, or drag it anywhere. Pick its size, or hide the panels.

Quiet, restrained sound: omens, war and peace, new ages, distant battles. Turn it off at any time.

Saves automatically. The horizontal and vertical islands share one world.

English and Simplified Chinese.
