About this game

Description

Supplied by the Steam store

NADIR TRACE is a turn-based roguelike set in the abandoned research facility SITE NT-14. Recover the records left behind, stabilize each floor's anchor, and open the gate to the next level.

Exploring in the dark

Explore laboratories, ruins, and the open ground between them with a limited view of your surroundings. Activate dormant machinery to light up facilities, and find supplies to keep your health and hunger in check.

Terrain and facility layouts change between runs. Your map keeps track of places you've already explored.

Combat, one action at a time

Enemies mark their attack areas before striking. Watch for lines of fire, circular blasts, and waves that cross several tiles, then choose where to dodge and when to strike back.

Moving, attacking, waiting, and using items advance the turn. Stop giving commands and you can take your time planning the next move.

Equipment for the situation

Use a shield to withstand an attack or a phase jump to escape a corner. Deploy a holographic decoy to lure enemies, or maneuver so their attacks hit each other. Equipment found during an expedition gives you ways to handle fights you can't win head-on.

Bosses and special areas

Face large bosses whose attacks cover wide areas, and use the facility's mounted lasers to fight back. In unstable zones, dodge bombardments while reaching and activating the stabilizers.

Lost records and uncharted depths

Complete the survey and return, or keep descending into BEYOND TRACE, where enemies and attacks become more dangerous.

Revisit recovered research logs and scattered notes in the archive. Fill in the item and enemy codex, and work toward collection goals and achievements across expeditions.

A single-player game with terminal-style pixel graphics and synthesized music. Save an unfinished expedition and resume it later.
