About this game

Description

Supplied by the Steam store

Thalassomania is a co-op horror game for up to four players, set on a small fishing trawler in the North Sea. You head out to the fishing grounds with a storm coming in, and everything on the boat has to be done by hand.

At the chart table you vote on where to fish. Once you're there, you put the net over the side, haul it back in on the winch, gut the catch and get it on ice. Meanwhile someone needs to keep an eye on the engine. It needs fuel and it can overheat and catch fire. If it dies, you'll have to rewire the starter panel to get it running again. The fuse box trips and needs rewiring in the dark, and if the hull gets breached, one of you holds a plate over the hole while the other welds it.

Someone also has to steer. The radio gives you a bearing and the radar shows what's ahead, but icebergs come out of the fog, and if you hit one you're knocked off course.

With jobs all over the ship you end up split up most of the time. Voice chat is proximity based and gets muffled by walls, so you'll be relying on the intercom at the helm and the CCTV console, where one of you can sit and watch the cameras around the ship.

And there's one more aboard than there should be. You'll usually hear it before you see it. When it comes for you, your best bet is getting into a locker or pulling a bunk curtain shut.

Each run sends you to different fishing grounds in different weather, and your trips and catches are kept in the Skipper's Log.

The demo takes about 30 minutes and is on Medium difficulty. It's made for 2-4 players. Solo works, but it's brutal. The demo ends before you make it home. In the full game you can get home, upgrade your gear and the ship, and go diving.
