Cinderwake is an action RPG in the old style: click to move, click to kill, pick up what the dead leave behind.
The fire that warmed the kingdom now burns it. The Cinder Matron calls her ashlings in the cathedral, a buried king wakes under the glass dunes, and the drowned abbey rings its bell at night. High on the Frostspine, a stair of ice climbs to the sky. Five heroes go where the ash falls thickest.
Arcanist : fire, frost and storm that answer each other. Mix the elements and they resonate: Frozen Maw, Flame Wave, Eye of the Storm.
Ravager : a hooded headsman who fights on rage, not mana. Chain crushing blows, drag foes in with hooks and shackles, take the heads of the weak. A great axe, or a weapon in each hand.
Huntress : marks her prey, coats her arrows in ember, rime or venom oil, sets traps, and hunts with a hound that grows with her.
Gravecaller : hexes that spread from foe to foe, risen bones and a Grave Lord, bound spirits, and offerings that turn the dead into power.
Oathsworn : one sworn oath that charges a crushing Judgment, hymns that help the whole party, and wheeling hammers of dawn.
Each class has three skill trees with more than 25 skills, and skills gain new effects at their milestones. A healer in each town gives the points back for gold, so a bad build is never the end of a hero.
Common, magic, rare, set and unique items with random affixes, sockets, gems and runes. The right runes in the right order inscribe an item. Rare uniques change the rules of a class. Charms work from your bag. Reforge and add sockets at the smith, share a stash between your heroes, and filter the loot you see. Item requirements matter: a heavy weapon in weak hands is dead weight. Buy, sell, gamble, hire a helper and gear up the helper too.
Every hero has a fox. It picks up loot, carries it, and runs to town to sell what you do not need. Feed it and it grows.
Hollowmere and the ashen heaths. Dustreach and the tombs under the dunes. Greywater and the drowned abbey. Hearthwatch and the frozen peaks of the Frostspine. Every map is generated new for every game. Waypoints, town portals and three world levels: Smolder, Blaze and Firestorm. Bosses warn before they strike: read the ground, step aside, hit back. Then the Pyre waits: an endless endgame through the burning memory of the four acts, with a guardian every tenth tier.
Walls that break, hidden rooms and glades, treasure thieves that run with their gold, gleaming monsters, side quests, lore stones, and a secret level for those who find the bell.
Up to 8 players in one game over Steam. Each player goes where they want. Form a party to share experience, quest credit, auras and heals. Voice chat is built in. Steam achievements, leaderboards and cloud saves.
Every idea in this update came from a player. Here is how it works: In the game, open the menu and pick Send a Raven. Write your bug, idea or wish, and the raven flies straight to me. I read every one, and my answer flies back into your game. New: Brightness A new slider in Menu > Settings > Screen. Turn it up when the caves are too dark for your eyes. New: reset your attribute points The healer in each town now gives back your attribute points too, not only your skill points. New: break barrels and urns with held attacks Hold an attack or a spell with the cursor on a barrel or an urn, and it breaks. You no longer have to click each one. Also new A raven that you send now sits on your shoulder, and it flies off when you close the menu. The raven page asks you not to write private information. The privacy page now tells how long ravens are kept and how to ask for deletion. Thank you to...
Read full update on Steam ↗Thank you for your feedback, and a special thanks to MictianTv for the notes on XP, rare items and hirelings! New: Spanish The whole game is now in Spanish: menus, skills, items, quests, NPCs and chat. Change the language in Settings > Language. At the first start, the game uses the language of your computer. If a Spanish text reads wrong, send a Raven from the pause menu and tell us. Balance XP in Act 1: levels 6 to 18 need more experience. Your level now follows the zones of Act 1 better. Monsters far below your level give much less XP: 81 % at 6 levels below, 43 % at 8 levels below, 5 % at 10 or more. Fewer rare items at the start: the extra magic find below level 6 now gives only more magic (blue) items. The sure rare from your first champion or elite stays. Hirelings You can now swap between the Road Archer and the Camp Guard at the guard captain (same price as a new hire). If th...
Read full update on Steam ↗Thank you again for every Raven you sent from the pause menu! A lot of this update comes straight from your messages. It is a big one, so here is everything that changed since the last update. A new act: the Frostspine Act IV, the Frostspine: snowy passes, an old keep and the town of Hearthwatch with four new people to meet. Three new bosses: the Rime Matriarch, Old Rimeback and the Summit Warden. Frostbite: the cold zones slowly chill your hero. Stand near a camp fire or a warm light, or use a fire skill, to thaw out. Tempered and Ashforged items: stronger versions of the item bases for the high levels, and affixes now go up to level 60. The hero level cap is now 99. Endgame: the Pyre and daily bounties The Pyre: an endless dungeon. Each tier is the burning memory of a place from the four acts, with its own monsters and its own boss. Go down the stairs to the next tier. A guardian wa...
Read full update on Steam ↗Thank you to everyone who sent a Raven from the pause menu! Every message reaches me, and this update comes straight from your feedback. Items Stacks: potions, portal scrolls, keys, gems and runes now stack up to 20 in one cell. The count shows in the corner. Shift + click takes one off a stack, and the belt refills from your stacks. Charm tab: the inventory has a new Charms tab. Charms work while they are there, so they no longer eat your bag space. Charms you already carry move there by themselves. Unique items are now ember orange, so you can tell them from rares at a glance. Inscribed items are pale gold. Movement WASD movement is a new option in Settings. When you turn it on, the skill key on W moves to F. Click-to-move still works as before. Smoother walking: rocks, trees, fences and other objects now block only the space they really fill. Your hero no longer snags on invisible...
