About this game

Description

Supplied by the Steam store

Your teammate can see them. You can't.

ByeByeObake! is an asymmetric online co-op action game for 2–8 players, where an Exorcist who can't see evil spirits teams up with a Spirit Companion who can.

Rely on your teammates’ voices and movements, and banish those nasty, naughty evil spirits.

Become the ultimate backseat ghost

The Exorcist can banish evil spirits with the salt-firing "Purifying Shotgun"... but is hopeless and can't actually see them.

The Spirit Companion can fly, pass through walls and track down enemies, but can't banish anything on their own.

Call out, signal with emotes and movement, time it right, and land the perfect shot.

Friendly fire is ON!

The Exorcist's Purifying Shotgun will happily exorcise your own Spirit Companion, too.

Watch your line of fire while you banish the evil spirits.

Not that scary, promise!

Ghosts are the theme, but ByeByeObake! is made as a "casual horror" game, with no gore and no jump scares.

Some stages are a little dark and there's a graveyard or two, but we want players who don't like horror games to enjoy it too.

Gear up at the office, then head out together

Talk over roles at your exorcism office, prepare your weapons, dress up, and head out.

Split the roles however you like.

Spend your rewards on gear and outfits, and make the office your own with decorations, wallpaper and music.

Think you're good? Take on the Ghost Tower

A challenge mode where you must banish wave after wave of evil spirits within the time limit!

How high can you climb? Your skills as an exorcist will be put to the test.

This game may not be for you if...

You want to play alone at your own pace (single-player is a practice mode only)

You'd rather play quietly without talking (calling out to teammates is the heart of the game)

You're looking for truly scary horror (there are ghosts, but it leans toward lively comedy)

You want to compete against other players (everyone plays cooperatively)

You can't laugh off your teammates' mistakes and stray shots (friendly fire really does happen all the time)

Other details

Clearing all the regular stages takes about 90–120 minutes

Online co-op for 2–8 players. Join friends with an Office Code

Best with an even number of players (2, 4, 6 or 8), so every Exorcist can pair up with a Spirit Companion

A single-player practice mode where you switch between the Exorcist and the Spirit Companion

Join a match in progress. If you get disconnected, rejoin with the same code

With 3 or more players, set the number of Exorcists and Spirit Companions freely

In-game voice chat that sounds different depending on distance and walls

Express yourself with outfits, emotes and office decorations

Available in Japanese, English and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional)

Please read before purchasing

There is a practice mode you can play alone, but we strongly recommend playing with friends and talking to each other.

On some network connections, voice chat may cut out temporarily. We are aware of this and working on improvements. If the problem continues, you can also play using Discord or another external voice tool.

Security software, firewalls, or school/workplace networks may make the connection unstable. If you can't join a room or voice chat won't connect, please allow ByeByeObake through your firewall or try a different network. Switching to a different host may also help.
