About this game

Description

Mend the people a city has forgotten

Lanternfall lives beneath an unbroken night. Light is sold by the lantern, memories are unreliable, and the people at your door need someone willing to listen.

You are Kai, a mender with an old diagnostic compass and a small repair parlour. Your customers are the Kindled: people whose spirits inhabit crafted bodies. A tired courier, a guarded archivist, a quiet lamplighter, and a masked stranger bring more than damaged seals to your counter. As Lantern Night approaches, their stories begin to reveal the truth behind the city's past—and your own.

COMPASSion: A Mender’s Tale combines an anime visual novel with a distinctive compass-shaped matching puzzle. Careful work restores a customer's body. Paying attention may help mend something deeper.

Find the pattern. Make the repair.

Swap elemental seals along the compass's rings and spokes, fuse matching seals into stronger forms, and place them where a damaged part needs them. Plan around your lamp-oil supply, build cascading fusions, and charge resonance gauges to transform the seals on the board.

Repairs introduce volatile charms, spreading rot ink, and immovable knots. Some jobs reward economical planning; urgent orders also judge your speed. Read the diagnostic, choose your next step, and bring the lattice back into harmony.

Listen between the repairs

Conversations continue as you work. Dialogue choices and repair results build relationships and shape character epilogues. Share dry jokes, follow awkward invitations, and decide where to spend Lantern Night when the shop finally closes.

Your jade slip keeps the wider city close: read the local gazette, catch up on personal messages, consult repair notes, and revisit the music of Lanternfall.

A place for small acts of care

Character-focused storytelling about memory, identity, grief, and connection.

Radial matching puzzles with elemental fusion, resource management, and evolving hazards.

Dialogue choices, relationship-driven epilogues, and alternative festival endings.

Expressive animated portraits and detailed lantern-lit illustrations.

Reading tools including a dialogue log, auto-advance, text skipping, and adjustable text speed.

Manual saves, autosave, repair hints, and localized story and interface text.

In a city that puts a price on light, keeping a small shop open can be an act of compassion.
