Grandpa's little ramen stand is yours now. Keep the broth hot and the customers happy.
Pocket Chef: Asia is a cozy, hand-drawn cooking game. Customers come up to the counter one at a time; you make each bowl yourself, serve it, take the payment and read what they thought of it. The days are short and relaxing, with just a pinch of time pressure.
You start out with a small Japanese street ramen cart, a yatai. Earn money, upgrade your stand, and unlock new ingredients and recipes along the way. The demo covers the ramen cart. In the full game, the road goes on to China, Korea, Thailand and India, each stop a cozier, fancier place with new regional dishes to learn.
Pick a small or large bowl, ladle in the broth, and lift the noodles from the strainer while the cooking bar is green. Sprinkle green onions however you like, even in a heart shape. Cut soft-boiled eggs in half on the cutting board and place the nori on the marked spot. Some customers order in riddles (“Something from the sea!”); you can ask what they mean, but the tip gets smaller. And mind their patience: late bowls score lower, and anyone who waits too long walks out angry.
Taking payment is part of the game too. With cash, count the change from the register drawer onto the tray; grab the wrong coin and you can simply undo it. With card, key the amount into the POS terminal and tap the card on the reader. Tips go into your tip jar, which you can upgrade all the way to the Golden Cat Jar. Along the way you'll meet 12 regulars, each with a little story of their own: a food critic who'll write about you in the paper, a farmer with fresh green onions, a gossipy auntie. Each day ends with an earnings sheet and handwritten reviews.
Play the first three days for free in this demo, and if you enjoy them, wishlist the full game. Grandpa's stand is waiting.
