Take a seat across from the cheats of a nighttime gambling den. Cheat Koi-Koi is a single-player roguelite about reading your opponent, choosing your tricks, and winning at hanafuda. Work your way to the den's owner, Ririka, and beat her for the prize.
Koi-koi is a Japanese card game played with hanafuda. Match cards from the same month to collect scoring combinations called yaku. Take your points now, or call koi-koi and play on for a stronger hand. If your opponent makes a yaku first, you get nothing from that round. How much are you willing to risk for one more card?
Peek at a hidden card. Swap a card in your hand. Watch your opponent's hands and eyes, then choose when to make your move. Get caught and you pay a fine and lose access to that trick for a while. Your opponents cheat too. Keep an eye on the cards—and the face across the table.
Pick who to face next as you work through the den toward Ririka. Each match is decided by total points over several rounds, with extra rounds to break a tie. Set the stakes before the match; points and fines move money after every round. Lose a match or run out of money, and your run ends. Money spent at the stall is money you cannot take to the next table.
Start each run by choosing a trick from a random selection. Between opponents, victory rewards offer new tricks or upgrades to the ones you have. Pass on the reward to take money instead. Buy tools at the stall, then decide what deserves a place in your limited kit. Gather information and plan ahead, or move the cards you need into reach.
Your remaining money, collection records, and achievements carry across runs. Visit the wholesaler to unlock tools, expand your inventory, or add stock to the stall. Defeat an opponent for the first time to unlock their secret trick. Your first victory over Ririka opens Endless mode and challenges that change the rules. Higher dan levels offer tougher runs.
Available in Japanese and English. New to hanafuda? The title screen's How to Play guide explains how to take cards and make yaku.
