Step into the jianghu and you are one card, like everyone else.
Ace of Jianghu is a wuxia card adventure made by one person — a Korean who writes wuxia stories. Shaolin, Wudang, the Unorthodox Alliance, the Heavenly Demon Cult: become one of their four heroes and cross the jianghu. Each hero's story forks, and the road you take changes who you meet, and the story itself. A fight that begins with a feud inside your own sect runs through the war that tangles the orthodox, the unorthodox and the demonic, until it reaches the shadow whose hand has closed around the whole jianghu.
Win and you learn new techniques. Break through a realm and your sect's Secret Art opens up. Bring a Mind Art to Great Mastery and your whole way of fighting changes. The people you cross stay in your Figures, and what you live through goes into the Jianghu Chronicles.
Shaolin — Vajra . The longer you hold, the more it stacks, and the heavier your fist lands.
Wudang — Flow . Force you turn aside or slip away pools up, and what pools comes back on the blade.
Unorthodox Alliance — Scheme . Every blow that draws blood adds to it, and the more it builds, the heavier every strike lands. Let it ripen, then settle the whole account at once.
Heavenly Demon Cult — Inner Demon . The price of the heaviest strike in the game. It eats your attack and your guard — and some arts feed on it.
Here, every card is a martial art. Win a fight and you learn a new technique, rest and you hone what you have learned, and let go of the moves that no longer serve you.
Hit a wall? Breakthrough — stake the whole turn on climbing a realm. Make it and your sect's Secret Art enters your deck. Miss it and your turn ends there.
And on the day that Secret Art is in your hand, pour in eight Qi and let loose a move that fills the screen.
Bring a Mind Art to Great Mastery and you fight a different way: Shaolin's Bodhi Heart turns a 4-hit combo into 8, and the Heavenly Demon Art echoes the two techniques you just used.
Four heroes, twelve roads. The road you choose changes who you meet and which hidden currents pull you in.
Figures — the 80-odd people you meet in the jianghu, each name with a story behind it.
Tales of the Jianghu — one card, one martial art, one piece of unofficial history.
Album — the moments of each encounter, gathered one painting at a time.
Jianghu Chronicles — the road you walked, written down.
At the end of the roads, the Nine Heavens wait: a nine-floor climb.
The art, the sound and the words all passed through one pair of hands — someone who has long dreamed of the jianghu. 160-plus ink-wash cards, 80-odd named figures, twelve roads through the jianghu.
This is not a story about ascending. No immortals, no elixirs, no rising to heaven. Only people, blades, and what people do to each other.
Fixes Fixed a large attack effect appearing on your character's side first when defeating an enemy with a Treasure that heals on kill. Healing effects like this now show only a number. Cards offered for Temper now show their current state rather than the tempered preview (in battle rewards and after "search again"). Wudang Crimson Sun at Mastery: one sword now remains after the Sword Array bursts, as it did before v0.9.9.4. When the Crimson Sun Array bursts, it now shows the name "Crimson Sun Array" and a single total instead of an addition formula. This replaces the "Sword Array a+b+c" display described in the v0.9.9.4 notes.
Read full update on Steam ↗Fixes Fixed a freeze when using a Secret Art with Heavenly Demon Art at Mastery while enemy speed was increased. Removed the Mind Art gift window, which could overlap other post-battle windows and cause the game to stall. The Mind Art selection screen now previews the martial arts you will receive. Fixed retained cards silently disappearing at the end of a turn. Retained cards now remain in your hand. Fixed Chain failing to increase when continuing a combo with Qi-Driven Blade. Wudang Crimson Sun: the Sword Array now bursts using the combined damage of its three swords (75% at Mastery). Blue ink and large numbers show the total as “Sword Array a+b+c.” The Sword Array artwork behind the character has also been redrawn. Added blue ink effects to more Wudang Mind Art bursts. Other Added Steam achievements for clearing the game with each sect and making full use of individual Mind Arts. A...
Read full update on Steam ↗New Wudang Sword Arts Four new Sword Array Arts for Wudang: Clear Wind Chain Sword, Shenmen Thirteen Swords, Qi-Commanded Sword, and Taiyi Mystic Gate Sword. Chain now caps at 5 stacks instead of 10, so it fills faster. Each accumulated Chain stack adds 2 damage to Sword Array attacks. See What Just Happened While watching playthroughs, we noticed it wasn't always clear what had just happened. The cost number in each card's top-left corner now sits in a brush-painted circle — a suggestion from the Heybox comments. When you lose an Art, the card face shows exactly which card was lost. Simplify and the three other card-removal spots now all say "Remove one card from your deck." Star Drain's name now also appears on screen at the moment of absorption. Hover over Qi or Wound to see what they mean. Unspent Qi carries over to the next turn, up to 10. After you first gain a Wound, a one-time...
Read full update on Steam ↗Fixed an issue where, after choosing certain Mind Arts, the buttons on the Act 1 Breakthrough screen stopped responding and the run could not continue. Runs that were stuck at this point can be continued after updating. Sorry for the trouble, and thank you to everyone who reported it.
Read full update on Steam ↗Multi-hit cards (3+ hits) now show the card's total damage as one big number after the last hit (e.g. Bodhi Heart Mastery, Eighteen Arhats). Damage numbers now stay next to the target's head, so they are easier to read and no longer overlap nearby enemies or other markers. When a Mind Art actually triggers, its name now appears in front of your character. On First Heaven and above, the blackout narration between chapters is skipped and only the chapter title is shown briefly (boss lines, Fortuitous Encounters and road events are unchanged). Act 3 now has two more healing points, including one before the final battle. Fixed streaky artifacts in the four road event backgrounds. The Breakthrough screen layout no longer hides the character in the middle. Added a brush-style mouse cursor and tidied the Fortuitous Encounter choice layout. Reworked the North Sea Art (Mind Art): HP lost to en...
Read full update on Steam ↗Fixed 24 places where Korean text appeared in the Simplified and Traditional Chinese UI. Fixed battles stalling for several seconds when an enemy died to Poison or a multi-hit attack. Lowered the single-hit damage of some Act 3 enemies that hit too hard. Enemy special mechanics now show their name and a short description the first time they appear. Your own status markers are introduced the first time too. Fortuitous Encounter screens now share one layout and the same button sizes. A pop-up now appears when you gain a Mind Art. Shaolin Bodhi Heart's Fist Power is shown from the start. Road event results now name the Art you honed or lost. Fixed minor issues, including hidden hand cards and some enemy art glitches.
Read full update on Steam ↗The roadside encounters teased last time are now in. Roadside Encounters Between forks in the road, you'll run into wounded travelers, wandering medicine peddlers, bandits demanding a toll, and more. Pay a price for a sure reward, or try your luck. If you'd rather not get involved, you can always walk on. "A Signal Beneath the Eaves" came from an idea shared in the Heybox comments. First Breakthrough The first time you're able to attempt a Breakthrough, the button lights up. Once you've tried it, the hint goes away. While watching streams, I noticed that many first-time players missed the Breakthrough button. Interface Confirm and continue buttons outside combat now share a single ink-black style. You can also press Space or Enter to continue. Choices in encounters and at forks now appear as scrolls stacked below the story text. The "Push your luck — search again" explanation is now a...
Read full update on Steam ↗We've fixed the issues reported after the last update. Fixed a pause lasting over a second when certain cards dealt the finishing blow. Fixed an issue where clicking an empty area of the reward screen would automatically claim the reward. Fixed the "Push your luck — search again" scroll covering cards when there were four cards. Temper rewards now preview how the card will be tempered. Choosing "Reflect on what the blade taught you" at a rest stop now shows the tempered card. Thanks to everyone who reported these.
Read full update on Steam ↗The new Treasures teased in the last log are now in. New Treasures New Treasures include sacred relics for the sects, along with powerful Treasures that come at a price. You can choose whether to accept Treasures that come with a drawback. Push Your Luck You can now choose "Push your luck — search again" every time you receive a Temper or Treasure reward, not just a martial arts reward. On success, martial arts rewards reroll into three new cards, including at least one of Superior quality or higher. Temper and Treasure rewards offer three options; choose one. Fail, and you lose the original reward and pay the cost shown up front. Combat Visuals Characters and move effects now scale together, and enemies dash in to match the actual distance between fighters. Asura Skyblade's large slash effect is now clipped at the screen edges less often. Roads and Battles Three-way forks show up mor...
Read full update on Steam ↗This update adds what the last log promised, along with changes based on your comments. I fix things as soon as feedback comes in and push updates quickly. - Enemies now wind up and lunge forward when they attack. When hit, they flash and get knocked back. - Enemies and heroes breathe while idle. - Heroes' and bosses' robes and hair sway in the wind. - Wudang's big techniques now step forward, with a taiji symbol drawn under your feet. - The Heavenly Demon Descent pillar now lands on the center of the enemy it hits. - Insight: play the same type of card several times in a row and the enemy counters. - Hold Fast: below one-third health, the enemy digs in and blocks. - Fire Attack: sets a card in your hand on fire. If you don't play it, it burns up. - Momentum: the enemy's attacks grow stronger each turn. - Hover over the badge under an enemy's name to see what it does. - Act 1 has one...

Read full update on Steam ↗The update that was delayed by the Steam server issue is now live. Thanks for your patience. After this morning's update, character and cloth sway animations looked wrong in some scenes. A hotfix is now live, and Steam will update automatically. Sorry for the trouble. If you spot anything else odd, please let me know in the discussions or comments.
Read full update on Steam ↗Here's what we changed this week based on feedback from streamers and their viewers' comments. From your feedback Self-target cards (Block, buffs) now point the drag arrow at your own character instead of an enemy. Windowed mode adds 2560×1440 and 3840×2160. Fullscreen renders at your monitor's resolution. A Chinese card line that was split by a line break ("防御轻") now reads clearly, and long words no longer break across lines. Wuxia terms such as Redirect now have an explanation line in card tooltips (all four languages). "Too easy": Act 1 and Act 2 enemies are tougher — a small bump early in Act 1, more in late Act 1 and Act 2. Winning a 武 (combat) fight at a Crossroads now offers Hone or Simplify instead of a new martial art. Combat & feel Wudang Redirect: the effect scales with the card's cost — a single sword stroke at low cost, a Taiji mark on the enemy's chest at high cost, and...
