About this game

Description

Supplied by the Steam store

You can only see so far. Your echo travels further.

Bathyscaphe is a single-player 2D underwater exploration game about deliberate movement, uncertain terrain and getting a fragile machine through a hostile place.

A human pilot is sealed inside your submersible. Ahead lies a dark passage. Somewhere near the seabed is a lost container. Find it, secure it and deliver it to the receiving lock at the far end of the sector.

See by sound

Send a sonar pulse into the dark and watch the cave take shape. The echo fades, leaving you to judge the next passage from what you remember. Cargo remains visible up close; at a distance, its position appears only briefly when your sonar finds it. A clearer picture costs power—and nearby predators can hear your signal.

Feel the weight

Thrust builds speed. Releasing the controls does not bring you to a stop. Brake before a bend, counter a current and leave room beneath the hull for your suspended cargo. Active stabilization helps you hold position, but it also draws from the battery.

Choose what the battery is for

Propulsion, sonar and close-range electric defense share one reserve. A discharge can drive nearby creatures away, but it will not clear a rockfall or pull you out of a bad approach. Make space, wait for a lull and commit when you are ready.

Fifteen routes into the dark

Travel from the Silent Shelf to hydrothermal passages, wreck fields, ice fissures and the Threshold of Silence. The nine advanced sectors squeeze the route through narrow bends and pulsing currents. Each mission has one cargo and one destination: there is no required trip back to collect a set of containers.

Optional expedition relays hold fragments of earlier dives. Stop to decode them, or keep moving. Their records never replace the delivery mission.

15 authored delivery routes with distinct terrain and hazards.

Momentum-based piloting, active braking and a physical cargo footprint.

Sonar discovery, fading echoes and a terrain-memory chart.

Currents, rockfalls and reactive sea life.

Close-range electric defense with a shared energy cost.

15 optional expedition records and a persistent journal.

A green phosphor interface, animated machinery and an atmospheric soundtrack.

Campaign checkpoints, sequential unlocks and replays of completed routes.
