It's two in the morning and you're nearly out of hours. The truck stop is almost full. There's one open stall left, between two parked rigs, and you have a 53-foot trailer to back into it.
Out of Hours is a top-down game about doing that well. There's no story and no upgrades. Just you, the rig and the lot.
The trailer swings wide, cuts corners and jackknifes if you let it. Take a pull-up or two to set up; real drivers do too. Slide the tandems to make a tight spot easier.
Each lot is laid out from a real truck stop, from Little America in Wyoming to Dysart's in Maine, and each has its own weather: rain in Portland, fog in Pennsylvania, snow in Maine, storms in North Carolina and Missouri.
You see what your headlights and the lot lamps show you. Other trucks come and go, and drivers walk across the lot on their way to the store, so keep an eye out.
Once you're parked, you sleep. In the morning the lot has changed, with different trucks and different gaps, and you still have to get out.
Each night and each morning is scored and graded A to F. Your first two pull-ups are free. Bumping things, hitting the curb, parking crooked and taking too long all cost points. Tuck the trailer in tight against the curb for a bonus.
A long-nose conventional that's steady and forgiving, or a short cab-over that turns tight and makes the trailer react quickly. Pick your paint.
Out of Hours is made by a solo developer, on his own engine. A controller is recommended (Xbox and PlayStation controllers work), the keyboard is fine too, and the controls can be remapped. Windows and Mac.
The demo is limited to Little America and the conventional rig. It also doesn't have traffic - both rigs and pedestrians. It should give you a feel for the game though.
