About this game

Description

Supplied by the Steam store

Thirty names on the roll. Thirty-one desks in the classroom.

You return to your former high school to digitize its cultural festival archives before the school closes for good. Among the materials is a photograph of Class 2-3—and a handwritten message you cannot remember leaving:

“This time, don’t leave out the answer.”

The 31st Student is a first-person psychological horror game about exclusion, unreliable memory, and the cost of bearing witness. Explore a deserted Japanese high school, trace a missing student through records that contradict one another, and confront the parts of the past that someone tried to leave behind.

An old recording preserves a breath after the final name.

A photograph disagrees with the attendance register.

And the more you uncover about Aoi Mizushima, the harder it becomes to trust the evidence—or your own memories.

Explore the school in a semi-open investigation. Follow leads in different orders, revisit familiar places, and uncover optional evidence and encounters beyond the main path. Examine documents, photographs, and audio recordings, and solve puzzles rooted in the school’s history.

As dusk gives way to night, the school changes with it. Familiar spaces become harder to trust. A chair moves when you look away. Footsteps continue after yours stop. Somewhere beyond your flashlight, the school seems to be waiting for a response.

What you choose to preserve, what you uncover, and what you carry out of the school can lead to three different endings.

Story-driven psychological horror focused on atmosphere, investigation, and discovery, with no combat.

Semi-open school exploration with interconnected leads, optional evidence, hidden encounters, and areas worth revisiting.

An evolving night with changing time, weather, sound, lighting, and subtle disturbances transforming familiar surroundings.

Three endings shaped by what you discover and the choices you make along the way.

Desktop and optional VR play. Supports keyboard and mouse, gamepad, and compatible OpenXR headsets and motion controllers.

Someone is missing from the record.

Will you leave room for their answer?
