One Last Thing

Hello! The story in this game was originally told to me by a friend.

At first, he didn't seem to think much of it himself. But for some reason, after hearing it, I couldn't forget it.

Later, I told the story to some of my other friends. Some thought there was something quite meaningful behind it. Others simply smiled and thought it was just a strange story.

That wasn't surprising. I think perhaps what makes a story interesting is that different people can see different things in it.

The strange thing was that my friends' different reactions didn't make me lose interest in sharing it. Quite the opposite. As time went by, I increasingly felt a strange sense of responsibility — I wanted more people to know this story.

So I began to wonder: If I wanted to tell it to a complete stranger, what would be the best way to do it?

Eventually, I thought of making a game. The world in this story seemed to defy conventional linear storytelling, because I shouldn't be the one deciding what it means for you.

So I wanted to leave that choice to you. You can discover this world in your own way, choose who to talk to, see things that others may never see, and ultimately arrive at an ending of your own.

That is why I made this game.

Of course, I am not a game developer with a full team behind me. This is the first time I have ever completed a game like this on my own. Over the course of development, I still spent countless hours revising things. Some parts may still not be perfect in the end. But at least, I finally finished it.

Now, this story no longer belongs only to me, nor does it belong only to the friend who first told it to me. It has become a game. And you have become one of the people who can hear it.

I don't know how many people will actually open this game. Nor do I know what they will take away from everything that happens here, or how they will understand it after playing. But perhaps that isn't what matters.

Because to me, the most important thing has already been done.

This story has finally been left behind. It exists here, in this digital world, forever.

And at last, I can let go of that sense of responsibility that has been urging me all this time— the feeling that I needed to make sure more people heard it :)

About the Game

This is a branching visual novel with multiple endings, in which you will experience a public incident with far-reaching consequences.

The game has three main branches. Depending on the choices you make, you will experience the incident from different perspectives. Each perspective may lead you to different feelings and interpretations, ultimately influencing how the story unfolds and which ending you reach.

A first playthrough usually takes around 1.5–2 hours. Experiencing all three branches takes approximately 3–4 hours in total, assuming you use the Jump to the Branch feature.

After completing your first playthrough, you can use Jump to the Branch to start from specific chapters, allowing you to explore other branches without playing through the entire story again from the beginning. Once you have experienced all the branches, you may gain a fuller understanding of what happened, as well as how your choices affected the fates of the characters in the game.

Of course, whether you choose to experience just one branch or explore all of them, the game can be enjoyed either way. It simply depends on how you prefer to play.
