RANK VI to VIII in ENDLESSPast stage 40, a new card page now and then tears the fight open into a RANK scene: each of your weapons at CARD MAXED (LV 5), the one in your hand or an ARSENAL weapon, offers its next rank, and the one you pick awakens past the cap. Solo runs only.RANK VI ECHO: every cast of that weapon's skill repeats 0.6 seconds later at half power, in a colour of the weapon's own. None of the ten echo colours is the forge's red to yellow, and they stay apart from the cast on the colour-blind palettes too.RANK VII COLOSSUS: every third cast comes giant, with a light knock (the SHAKE setting scales it).RANK VIII COLOSSUS II: the giants grow larger still and the echo hits at full power.Damage text, redrawnSkill damage now shows what dealt it, and burn, bleed and poison keep one meter per monster. Hits, crits and the crystal's numbers are unchanged.Looks likeChangesCard skil...
Read full update on Steam ↗TRIAD awakeningsThree new MYTHIC cards wake a fusion and a third school's card into one: GALLOWS STORM (deathmark and arc go off as one, and every mark the cut passes on rides the bolt to five more), THUNDERGLASS (stormfire and shatter go off as one, and the cinder bursts every mark round where the bolt ended) and GLACIAL STORM (brittlefire and stormrod go off as one, and its lightning hunts the frozen and freezes two more).A triad is a bonus: the wave's own card page comes right after it, so it never costs you a pick, and it counts toward no card limit. You need none of its cards in your hand. If you do hold the fusion and the third, they stay and cast a level higher. Not in ENDLESS, DAILY RIFT, CASCADE, WILD HUNT or the lab.Your weapon's own ARSENAL skillThe weapon in your hand now casts its own ARSENAL skill by itself from the first wave, beside the two ARSENAL weapons a run can add:...
Read full update on Steam ↗A fourth road: The Sulfur CalderaClearing THEME 9's warden opens the Sulfur Caldera, THEMES 10 to 13: The Tephra Town, The Obsidian Flow, The Blue-Fire Pits and The Crater Throat, each with its own floor, caves, monsters, warden and music. Its law is FUMAROLES: every 8 seconds the vents breathe steam for 2. A hiss warns first, the steam hides the monsters in it from the idle blade, and they come out scalded, walking half again as fast for 2 seconds.A new elite power, GEYSER: the Ashfall Augur raises a jet of the same steam where it stands. The THEMES page shows all 13 themes as one row of smaller cards.Thirty new weaponsForty weapons in all: the claymore, rapier, bow, halberd, nunchaku, sickle, crossbow, war fan, stiletto, flamberge, kusarigama, bo staff, sling, urumi, poleaxe, war club, labrys, crook, falx, tower shield, khopesh, longbow, war wheel, meteor hammer, pitchfork, garrote,...

Each theme is 40 stages long: its warden waits on stage 40, and clearing it opens the next theme. On the THEMES page, pick a theme from the scene cards along the foot while its map grows from stage 1 to 40 behind it.Every run starts on its theme's stage 1. START AT is gone.Toughness climbs in one line: each theme opens as tough as the theme before it at stage 31, and THEMES 4 and 7 one step past the stage 40 before them. The next theme no longer opens three times as tough.THEMES 2, 5 and 8 open on 100 monsters and THEMES 3, 6 and 9 on 150, not thousands, and climb to the 10,000 ceiling by their last stages. Each theme pays and plays like the old tier whose...

Read full update on Steam ↗Weapon skillsEvery weapon now has three skills of its own. Z plays to the weapon's strength, X covers its weak spot, and C is its ultimate, on a long wait. Fighting with a weapon fills its mastery as your level fills, and every mastery level is a point to spend on that weapon's skills in the new WEAPONS tab of SKILLS. Z opens at mastery 1, X at 10 and C at 25, and each has an upgrade with three ranks. Mastery stays when you ascend, but it does not grow in WILD HUNT, DAILY RIFT or CASCADE.In a run, press a skill's key, or let AUTO CAST fire it when there is work for it. Each one cuts its own way, and each is tuned to match the sword on average. Your skills' copies of the blade take its form too. When you press RUN, you are dealt three of the forms you have won, the one you wield always among them. Take one and the run starts with it, or DEAL AGAIN once for two others. The FORMS chip opens a practice yard where you can watch any form at work first.FLAIL: a ball on a chain whirls round your hand, so a resting hand still cuts.TWIN DAGGERS: two short blades cut a body again in half the time, each for less.SPEAR: jabs on its own at full speed, so a slow hand cuts like a fast one.SCYTHE: lies across your stroke and mows a lane its own width.GREATSWORD: turns slowly; go back the way you came and it swings round through everything.WHIP: a long lash where every...
