Description
Every night, someone has to stand between the child and the dark
Dreamfend Demo is a shortened taste of a pixel-art roguelite survival game about a child's favorite toy, guarding their sleep. The child is asleep and won't wake until morning. Whatever comes for him tonight, you're the one who has to face it.
Core mechanics
15-minute run, waves grow stronger every minute
13 weapons, up to 6 in one build
6 passive abilities, up to 3 in one build
Final boss with unique AoE attacks
Fury builds up in the dark: more damage and crit chance, but it hurts you if it overflows
Free roam across the map, hunting for upgrades
Notes scattered across the map reveal the start of the child's story
Upgrades that carry between runs
A crowd against one
Monsters close in from every direction, and there are more of them with every passing minute. You start the night with one weapon — by the end, a whole arsenal orbits around you.
Choose your weapon
Level up your toy and build out a loadout of 6 weapons — 13 in total, each working in its own way. Add 3 passive abilities out of 6, combine them, stack them, and become stronger than any nightmare.
Grow stronger, but don't lose yourself
Fury builds up in the dark. The more of it you have, the faster you tear through the crowd — and the closer you get to no longer being yourself. Find the child among the swarm to cool down, or push it to the edge and take the risk.
Learn the story
Memories of the child's past surface in the dark. Find out how it all began.
The night doesn't last forever
The demo night runs 15 minutes — the full story's first night, compressed into one intense run. Get as strong as you can before you face the final boss.
The toy doesn't forget
Hunt for treasure and upgrade the weapon you loved between runs. Unlock more, and come back the next night stronger than before.
This is a demo. The full game launches into Steam Early Access on November 30 — with two maps, the full arsenal of weapons and passives, bosses, and the complete story. As development continues, new maps will arrive with unique enemies and bosses, new attacks, passives, and map items.
