About this game

Description

Supplied by the Steam store

Gensokyo fights for itself. You decide how.

Youkai pour down the lane toward your barrier. Your heroines shoot back on their own — every bullet of danmaku is automatic. What you hold is everything around it: who you bring, where they stand, which spell card they carry, and what you take when the battle stops and offers you three cards.

Five places to stand, and a screen full of danmaku

Eight playable characters — Reimu, Marisa, Youmu, Mystia, Patchouli, Cirno, Sakuya and Koishi. Each has a basic attack, an on-hit passive, and a spell card that could not belong to anyone else.

Placement is the tactic. Up to five slots, and each one reaches a different distance. Master Spark wants a clear line; the Grand Magic Circle wants a crowd.

Physical or magic. The map tells you which defense the next stage leans on before you commit. Build the party after you read it.

Every level-up stops the battle and asks

Kills feed a shared level. When it rises, combat freezes and three cards appear: raise one skill, lift the whole party, or reinforce the barrier. Reroll when none of them fit. Push a skill to Lv.4 and it starts stacking Mastery for the rest of that battle. The same stage never grows the same way twice.

Beat a boss, then fight beside her

Every fifth stage a boss waits with two phases and a spell card of her own. Win, and she turns up in the shop: Youmu at 5, Mystia at 10, Patchouli at 15, Cirno at 20, Sakuya at 25. And Yuyuko is waiting at the end of the road.

Forty stages, and what you keep between them

Eight enemy roles — rushers, heavies, ranged, flyers, splitters, support, siege. Elite traits like shields, berserk, death blasts and status resistance, plus a midboss every few stages, keep rearranging the mix.

Permanent upgrades stay bought. Characters, signature skills, the barrier and the economy: what you buy is still there on the next attempt.

Traits reshape a spell instead of just growing it. A wide, gentler seal or a tight, harder one. A longer time stop or a thicker rain of knives. Equipping and swapping them is always free.

No cutscenes. Just the next attempt.

A battle runs five to twelve minutes. Lose and you still bank every coin your kills earned, and you are back on the map at once — a failed run shortens the next one. Everything skippable is skippable. Single player, offline, one purchase. Nothing is walled off behind another payment.
