About this game

Description

Supplied by the Steam store

The auctioneer is lying. Some of the bidders are helping him. Can you tell who?

Blind Gavel is a social deduction party game for 4 to 8 players, played in first person with voice chat. One side runs a crooked auction. The other side has to catch them before the money runs out.

TWO SIDES, ONE SECRET

The Auctioneer runs the sale and knows what every item is really worth.

The Partners sit among the bidders. They know the real value too, and nobody knows who they are.

The Buyers know nothing. They have to work out who is lying.

1. HEAR THE PITCH

A random item comes out of the black box and goes under glass. The Auctioneer reads its letter to the room. Only he can see the page, so he can read it honestly or invent every word

2. INSPECT THE ITEM

Do not just take his word. Click the glass for a close look and search for cracks, bad stitching, or any detail that does not match his story.

3. PLACE YOUR BID

Everyone starts with the same budget, and every bid is public. But the Auctioneer decides who wins, and it does not have to be the highest bidder. He can hand a treasure to a Partner for almost nothing, or sell you a beautiful fake at full price.

4. ACCUSE A PARTNER

Think you caught one? Accuse them. The room votes: is the accuser right, or lying? Whoever loses the vote faces elimination, and the truth only comes out afterwards.

5. SURVIVE THE MINIGAME

Losing the vote is not the end. The room picks how you go: the Trapdoor, the Poison, and more. You have to survive it while everyone else tries to bring you down. Survive, and you are back in the auction.

HOW YOU WIN A match can end in two ways.

Catch every Partner. If the Buyers expose and eliminate all the Partners, the Buyers win.

Or win on profit. If a Partner is still hidden when the last item is sold, the side with the most profit wins. Profit is an item's real value minus the price you paid. A cheap treasure makes you rich. An expensive fake costs you dearly.
