THE SKY BROKE, AND SOMETHING CAME THROUGH
The Barrowlands were farmland once. Now a tear hangs over them, and the things that walk out of it don't agree about what happened. Neither do the people. Three factions lay claim to how it should be managed. The Vigil want it closed. The Threshold Concern want it studied, catalogued, and stamped with a company logo. The Unbound think closing it is the only real mistake left to make.
You arrive at Hollowmere Camp with nothing, and all three have a use for you.
Seal what you find. Every wild creature can be captured rather than killed — but sealing is a gamble. Your odds rise as its health falls and shift with the creature's tier, so spending a Sealing Card is a real decision.
100+ creatures planned across Cyberpunk, Mythos, Undead and Aberration strains, currently only have access to around 20+ creatures.
Evolution is your call. Offered after a battle, never forced the moment a number ticks over. Keep the form you like.
A deck and six cards to your hand, not a party. Six active creatures, the rest benched. Choose your hand of creatures for each battle — and swapping onto the field costs your turn, so a bad lead has a price.
Fights with moving parts. Poison and Bleed chew through armour by percentage. Stun, Slow and Vulnerable reorder play. Regen and Lifesteal keep you standing. Crit and hit chances are per-move and visible.
Progression that doesn't punish a full team. Level to 20, and every creature in your active deck earns from every fight — raise a team without paying six times the grind.
The Barrowlands — six zones with their own encounter tables and level bands, rival Apoc Handlers with real rosters, a shop economy in Scrip, and a healer at Hollowmere.
Plans, not promises — but this is the order of work:
A 16-quest story campaign through the Barrowlands, in three acts, ending beneath it
A four-floor Crypt with battle after battle as you try to survive, gated descents and a boss at the bottom
Commissioned pixel art replacing placeholder creature sprites, starting with the creatures you meet first
The Fracture Coast — a second region, once the Barrowlands is finished
The target is a 6–8 hour campaign. That's what Early Access is funding.
Full controller support with prompts that match your device
3 save slots with Steam Cloud sync
7 achievements and 5 leaderboards — fastest run to Hollowmere, most Handlers defeated, highest creature level
Original music across overworld, battle and menus
To all playtesters , with your support we managed to really pull off one creative and fun experience.

A small update that gives you somewhere to look things up.Menu > HelpThe pause menu has a new Help page with fourteen topics: controls, battles, moves, status effects, sealing, your deck, trainers, healing, evolution, items and Scrip, quests, warp pylons, saving, and options. Each one is a few lines long, with a picture of the screen it's talking about. On a controller, move up and down the list to turn the pages. The tips from 0.3.3 now point here, so if you closed one too quickly you can read it again.FixesThe sealing tip and the battle log now call the item a Seal Card, its actual name.
Read full update on Steam ↗A smaller update aimed at your first hour with Apoc Wilds.Tips for your first stepsThe first time you meet something new - your first battle, choosing moves, sealing a creature, status effects, a trainer battle, being defeated - a short tip explains it, once. If you'd rather work things out yourself, turn them off under Settings > Gameplay > Show Tips.Choosing moves, now on a controllerEach creature takes four of its moves into battle, and you pick which four from its details. Getting there used to need a right-click. Every creature in your Deck now has a Moves button, so it works with a controller too (right-click still works).Clearer menusMenu buttons were drawing much darker than intended, and the highlight on the button you were on was hard to see. Buttons now show their proper colour, and the one you're on is a clear blue.BeforeAfterLifesteal in the move pickerMoves that heal you...
Read full update on Steam ↗Three fixes, two of them straight from playtester reports.Ultrawide monitorsOn 21:9 and 32:9 screens the options at the bottom of the battle screen could run off the edge. The whole interface now always fits the screen, whatever its shape. Nothing changes on a standard 16:9 display.Escape closes what you're looking atPressing Escape (or Start on a controller) with a window open used to open or close the pause menu behind it. Now it closes the window on top: Settings, Save, Load, your Deck, Inventory, the Quest Log, a shop, item and quest-reward pop-ups. In the exit confirmation it takes you back rather than quitting. Conversations, quest offers and evolutions still ignore it, so you can't skip one by accident.Moves in a gridYour moves now sit in a 2x2 grid beside Hand, Items, Seal and Flee, instead of a column. The buttons are wider, so even the longest move names and effect tags fit.
Read full update on Steam ↗Two things playtesters asked for: a way to find out what a status effect does without leaving the fight, and ability descriptions you can actually trust.Status effect tooltipsEvery status icon in the game now explains itself.Hover any status icon to see what it does: the icons above your creatures' and your opponents' health bars, the icons on move buttons in battle, the ones in the creature details panel, and the options in the loadout dropdowns. On a controller, focusing a move shows every status effect it carries at once.Press X (Square on PlayStation) or Tab to inspect the icons on a health bar or a details row.Ability descriptions tell the truthMany ability descriptions promised things the ability did not do - bleeds that never happened, stat changes the game has no system for. Every description has been rewritten to say exactly what the ability does, and nothing more.Abilities th...
Read full update on Steam ↗Dorn Yates no longer locks your questsLosing to Dorn used to close that fight for good - and with it Prove It and The Long Silence, which could then never be finished.Battling Dorn now completes those quest steps whether you win or lose.Evolved creatures keep all four abilitiesA creature whose loadout you had customised could evolve into a form that did not know most of its old moves. Those picks were quietly dropped, and the ability manager showed the empty slots as copies of the first ability - which is how an Aeon Gorgon ended up apparently holding three Serpent Strikes. An evolved creature now always has a full kit of four different abilities, keeping every pick its new form still knows.Stat screens tell the truth about archetypesThe level-up and evolution screens were showing a creature's stats without its archetype bonus. The creature itself never lost anything, but the screen ma...
Read full update on Steam ↗Trainers stopped throwing their own creatures awayWhen a trainer withdrew a creature, it was gone for the rest of the fight - and worse, beating whichever one they sent out next ended the battle. You could win without ever facing half their team.A withdrawn creature comes back. Every creature a trainer has now has to be beaten.Trainers who swap are meaningfully harder as a result, and worth more experience, because you are now fighting the fight that was always written.Far less clicking through conversationsDialogue was written in short lines and shown one at a time, so a full screen of box held about a tenth of a screen of words.Lines now fill the box they appear in - about two thirds fewer presses of Continue, with nothing cut.The box itself sizes to what is in it, instead of being a large panel with one line floating at the top of it.Menus you can readShop rows no longer print on t...
Read full update on Steam ↗Losing no longer ends your runA defeat used to take everything with it. It does not any more.Lose every creature in a fight and you now wake up at a healer with your team and your inventory intact.Early on, that healer is a new arrival in Ashfall Clearing, a few steps from where you started — so a bad first fight costs you a walk, not your progress.Once you have taken on Dorn Yates at Widow's Trail, Hollowmere Camp takes over as the place you wake up.Dorn Yates arrives properlyHis walk-up was broken in a way that was hard to look at — his animation had been sliced wrong, so he flickered, vanished for a beat, and reappeared behind where he had just been. The animation is fixed, and he now walks in from off screen instead of appearing in the middle of the road. His approach is paced to be watchable rather than a sprint across the view.He is also waiting further down in the Crypt now, and...
