You didn't just rent some rack space. You built an empire.
Start with a single server in a rented closet and grow your operation into a full-scale datacenter powerhouse. In Server-Admin Simulator, every decision matters — from the hardware you install to the contracts you accept, the staff you hire, and the rivals you crush.
This is not just a tycoon game. It's a power trip.
Every rack you bolt in. Every CPU you upgrade. Every contract you sign. It all adds up — or it doesn't, and you go bankrupt.
Build your infrastructure from the ground up:
Purchase server racks with different cooling and power profiles
Install and upgrade CPUs, RAM and network cards across multiple tiers
Accept client contracts — from small websites to massive AI training clusters
Balance income, energy costs, staff salaries and loan repayments
Expand your datacenter room by room as your reputation grows
The market doesn't wait. Rivals will steal your clients. Random events will knock your servers offline at the worst possible moment. Your job is to stay online — no matter what.
You can't do it alone. Build your team:
Cooling Engineers — keep your hardware from melting
Security Experts — reduce the risk of random incidents
Network Engineers — slash repair times
System Administrators — automatically accept contracts while you sleep
Every employee levels up over time, becoming more effective the longer they work for you. But they also demand raises — and they will leave if you don't pay up.
Not all revenue streams are... official.
Unlock the underground side of the server business: run hacking operations against rival infrastructure, browse the Zero-Day market for exploits, and take on Government contracts that come with strings attached — and serious consequences if you fail.
Simon-Says hacking minigame with scaling difficulty
Zero-Day exploit market — buy, deploy, profit
SLA penalties for downtime on high-stakes contracts
Investigation system: push too hard and face the consequences
Walk the line between legitimate datacenter operator and digital criminal — or commit fully to one path. The story branches based on your choices.
Server-Admin Simulator features a full branching campaign with two distinct endings:
↗ The Legal Path — build your reputation through legitimate contracts, acquire rivals and become the most trusted datacenter in the region.
↙ The Underground Path — embrace the shadows, dominate the black market and become the most feared operator in the network.
13 missions. Real consequences. No going back once you choose.
Difficulty Modes
Beginner -> Relaxed pace, lower penalties
Normal -> The intended experience
Hard -> Aggressive rivals, tighter margins
Ironman -> Permadeath economy — no second chances
Special Modes
Endless Mode — no campaign end, just pure growth
New Game+ — start over with prestige bonuses carried forward
Photo Mode
Capture your datacenter at its peak. Choose from multiple frame styles and share your build.
Steam Multiplayer — Competitive or Cooperative
Play with up to 4 friends over Steam — invite-only, no dedicated server, no manual IP entry required.
Choose your mode when you host:
Competitive — every player runs their own independent datacenter. Race to be the first to hit the earnings target and track everyone's progress on a live scoreboard.
Cooperative — all players jointly manage a single shared datacenter, together.
Host from any save slot or start fresh
Invite friends via the Steam overlay, or let them join in progress straight from their friends list
Full lobby system with ready checks and force-start option
Match history — track your past competitive results
Mod sync verification — all players must run the same mods
Built for Modders
Everything in the game can be extended by the community.
The official ModSDK is available on GitHub and includes:
Full C# interface with IntelliSense documentation
Add hardware, contracts, staff, software, rivals and more
Custom terminal commands, news headlines, seasonal events
Zero-Day exploits for the hacking market
14 lifecycle hooks — react to any game event
Localization support for DE, EN, FR and beyond
Multiplayer-safe mod synchronization built in
In-game Workshop browser — discover and subscribe to community mods without leaving the game
✔ Deep tycoon simulation — hardware, contracts, staff, economy
✔ Branching story campaign with two distinct endings

Important if you use mods: mods are now chosen per save game. Please read the "Mods per save game" section below before you load an existing save. Data center rooms Every data center expansion level now opens its own room (A–D). The rooms hold 3 / 3 / 6 / 13 racks, so the total rack limit stays the same. The Servers tab groups your racks by room. New Move rack button: move a rack with everything in it to another unlocked room that has a free spot. As with moving single servers, all servers in the rack must be powered off and have no running contracts. New racks go into the first room with free space. Existing saves are sorted into rooms automatically when you load them. Sell rack is now also available in the rack view (it was only in the card view). The shown refund now includes the switches mounted in the rack. Mods per save game Installed mods are no longer loaded into every game au...
Read full update on Steam ↗Until now ServerAdmin was a pure sandbox. With this update your data center finally gets a story – with tasks, conversations you have to answer, and endings that depend on what you decide. The campaign 3 acts, 11 chapters. Your uncle Konrad built ServerAdmin and vanished. In your rack sits a server you are not supposed to touch – and what is on it is bigger than your little data center. Around you, five people want something from it: a federal investigator, an anonymous hacker, the boss of your biggest competitor, a researcher with a secret project, and your own admin. Tasks that fit your data center. Every chapter gives you goals that use the new hardware and facility systems: RAID, redundant links and power supplies, GPUs, cooling, emergency power, security appliances, backup ISP links, staff, reputation and more. Tasks come with progress bars, rewards, optional bonus goals and some...

Highlights Server configurator with multiple drives and RAID Mainboards, multi-socket CPUs, RAM slots, GPUs and power supplies Tower servers that stand on the data center floor A full network: switches, IPv4 ranges, upstream links, redundancy Customers who demand RAID, redundant links, emergency power and more Cooling, emergency power and a security appliance for your facility Inventory with resale values, new statistics and reputation perks Save backups you can restore from the main menu Server hardware Server configurator – every chassis in the shop has a new "Configure" button: pick CPU, RAM, network card, drives, mainboard, powe...
Read full update on Steam ↗This update is built almost entirely on suggestions from the community. Thank you, keep them coming! Reputation is now saved Your reputation score, tier (Unknown → Elite) and your completed/failed contract counters were never written to the save file, so every loaded game dropped back to "Unknown" and lost the income bonus and event protection of the tier you had earned. This is fixed. Older saves don't contain a value, so on first load your reputation is estimated from the contracts you've completed instead of starting at zero. Marketing — new shop tab Advertise to attract more clients! While a campaign is running, new contract offers arrive more often and more offers fit into the list at once. Three campaigns are available: Search Engine Ads, Social Media Campaign and Trade Fair & Trade Press — the bigger the campaign, the bigger the boost. Only one campaign can run at a time, and i...
Read full update on Steam ↗Fixed a shop crash (Steam review rejection) A typo slipped into a chassis reference during a manual data entry — the entry pointed to an asset that didn't exist. Every visit to the Server/Chassis tab in the shop crashed reliably because of it. Fixed, and all asset references in the project were then automatically checked for similar broken links. "1U Server Pro" (and other higher-tier chassis) offered no real benefit The hardware upgrade chain followed the wrong order, causing several pricier chassis to hit "MAX" at much lower values than their actual limit allowed — "1U Server Pro" ended up capping out at the exact same specs as the cheaper "1U Server". The full upgrade chain for CPU/RAM/Network/Storage has been corrected. Higher-tier chassis now consistently unlock more than cheaper ones. Ironman: progress was lost on exit Per its own description, Ironman is only supposed to block m...
Read full update on Steam ↗Audio — fixed multi-second freeze on music transitions On slower hardware (mainly laptops), the game would freeze for several seconds on every music change — most noticeably when switching to the alarm track, which happens routinely and disruptively often on an efficiently-run datacenter (100% utilization). Cause: all three music tracks were imported with Decompress On Load and Preload Audio Data disabled, so Unity had to synchronously decode the entire (~40-50 MB) file on the main thread the first time it played. Barely noticeable on a fast desktop SSD, but a multi-second freeze on slower drives. Switched to Streaming, so only small buffered chunks are loaded continuously instead of the whole file at once. Additionally, music transitions now crossfade smoothly (~1.5s) instead of cutting hard — transitions, especially into the alarm track, feel noticeably less jarring now. Performance...
Read full update on Steam ↗Multiplayer — Competitive mode temporarily disabled While working on Co-op mode, we found several bugs specific to Competitive mode (match end and progress tracking weren't working reliably, among others). To make sure nobody runs into these mid-match, the "Competitive" option is temporarily disabled when hosting — only Co-op is available when creating a lobby right now. Existing saves are not affected. Competitive will return once the remaining issues are fixed. Server hardware upgrades — back to a fixed chain The previously introduced free choice among all compatible components allowed replacing a part with a weaker (and cheaper) one — effectively downgrading your own server. "Upgrade" now automatically leads to the single next tier in the defined chain again, with no selection screen.
Read full update on Steam ↗🌐 Multiplayer Joining and inviting friends now works reliably — fixed several underlying bugs in the Steam lobby and connection logic. The friends list now shows server name, player count, and game mode when you're hosting a lobby. ⚡ Performance Fixed periodic stuttering/brief freezes during normal play. 💾 Misc Manual saving now always shows a confirmation (previously only autosave did). A successful contract negotiation now accepts the contract immediately if you have free server capacity — with a clear message if it can't. 🔧 Server Hardware Upgrades Upgrading CPU, RAM, Network, or Storage now lets you choose from every compatible component instead of only ever getting one fixed next tier. Modders can now restrict components to specific server chassis (see ModSDK v1.2.0).
Read full update on Steam ↗Multiplayer Fixed: Friends weren't shown with a "Join Game" option in the Steam friends list while you were in a lobby. Fixed: The "Invite Friend" button in the lobby wasn't working reliably. Thanks to everyone who reported this! 🙏
Read full update on Steam ↗Modding Tools New: SA-S Mod Creator — a standalone tool for building mods without writing any code. Add components and contracts through simple forms, then generate and compile with one click. The Workshop Uploader is now directly integrated into the Mod Creator: after a successful build, the build folder opens automatically, and clicking "Upload to Workshop" launches the uploader with the finished mod file already pre-filled. Both tools are downloadable and launchable as separate Steam Library options (right-click the game → Properties → Launch Options).
Read full update on Steam ↗Update #5 Mods Removed mod upload from the game itself — publishing/updating mods is now handled by the separate standalone uploader tool (uses the same Steam App ID). New "Reload Mods" button in the Mods panel: re-scans local mod folders and Workshop subscriptions without requiring a game restart. Save Games Saves are now bound to the set of mods active when they were written. Loading a save with a different or missing mod set is blocked with a clear message instead of silently dropping content. Multiplayer Missing mods are now automatically detected, subscribed to, and downloaded when joining a lobby, before the actual connection to the host is established. Host-side mods that aren't published to the Workshop (local-only) block the join with a clear message, since those can't be fetched automatically. Thanks for playing and modding! 🙏
Read full update on Steam ↗Update 1.1.8 – More Storage, More Control New Content New Storage component type: 7 tiers from 250GB HDD up to 16TB NVMe RAID, installable in every server. Two new long-term hosting contracts: WebNest Hosting (website hosting) and CloudSuite SaaS (SaaS hosting) – both storage-heavy with long durations. Fictional vendor names for all hardware components (CPU, RAM, Network, Storage). 4 new achievements built around storage failures and contract relocations. New Features Contracts can now be manually moved to a different server – handy when a contract needs more storage. New random event: storage failures, fixable by swapping the drive. Previously published mods can now be updated instead of creating a duplicate Workshop entry on re-upload. Improvements Tutorial updated to cover the new storage and contract-migration mechanics. Thanks for all the feedback – keep it coming! 🙏
Read full update on Steam ↗Terminal Redesigned: the input line is now part of the terminal's scrollback instead of a separate box below it — just like a real terminal prompt Fixed: the input line's clickable area was narrower than it looked — you had to click right at the end of the visible text to type Bug Fixes Server renaming: the input field could snap back to the old name mid-edit due to a background refresh, before you were done typing Hacking minigame: the four buttons now each have a fixed symbol (●■▲◆) in addition to color — easier to tell apart for colorblind players
Read full update on Steam ↗Mod Upload Simplified: instead of a folder, just select the mod's DLL file directly — everything else is prepared automatically Safety: mods you only subscribed to via the Workshop can no longer be accidentally uploaded as your own — only your own local mods are allowed The description field now supports BBCode formatting (bold, italic, underline, lists, links, headings) via a new toolbar The description field is now scrollable for longer text
