Read full update on Steam ↗Our commitment to fully removing GenAI from the game remains unchanged. When managing countless textures, UV wraps, and materials across the store environment, it is entirely possible for an obscure third-party file to hide in plain sight. If you spot any other graphics or images that you believe we might have missed, please drop a note in the community hub. We will investigate them immediately and replace anything that slipped through. Thank you for the sharp eyes and for helping keep the store looking its best!
Read full update on Steam ↗THE BIG REWIND UPDATE IS HERE! This is much more than a small patch. We have been listening closely to your feedback and making major improvements throughout the store. GENERATIVE AI GRAPHICS REMOVED We have replaced the generative AI graphics with new artwork. This has been a major visual overhaul across the VHS collection and the store. Thank you to everyone who shared thoughtful feedback while I worked through it. BEFORE — GENERATIVE AI ARTWORKAFTER — REPLACEMENT ARTWORK These are just a few of the graphical updates included in this release. Some generative AI textures came from third-party assets used during development. Warnings were present on some asset listings, and I unfortunately missed them. I noticed the affected textures late in development, too close to release to replace them properly. This update completes that work. 9 NEW LANGUAGES VHS Nights now supports nine additio...

Read full update on Steam ↗We’ve added a new Performance Settings menu for VHS detail rendering. By default, the game still displays VHS details the original way, but players can now enable Culling Mode to reduce how many VHS detail displays are rendered at once. This should help players who were seeing FPS drops around the large unsorted VHS piles. What changed: - Added a new Performance Settings option in the title screen menu. - Added Culling Mode for VHS details. - Culling Mode focuses rendering on VHS tapes near and in front of the player. - The setting is saved, so players do not need to reselect it every time. - Improved support for players experiencing frame drops near heavy VHS pile areas. - Default behavior remains unchanged for players who prefer the original full-detail rendering. Thanks again to everyone reporting issues and helping us make the store smoother, clearer, and more fun to work in. It’s...

Read full update on Steam ↗- Fixed an issue that could prevent Steam achievements from unlocking. - The game now rechecks existing save progress and awards eligible achievements that were previously missed. - Added recovery checks for: - First VHS - First Shelve - Fastest Rewind - Rewind Master - Top Ten Club - All Endings - No Assist - Terminal Man - Achievement checks now retry if Steam is temporarily unavailable when the game starts. - Steam progress is rechecked after loading a saved game and periodically while playing. - Improved protection so achievements remain disabled during developer testing and when Steam Test Mode is enabled. Some achievements require recorded Steam statistics or leaderboard data. If that information was never recorded by an earlier version, the game may be unable to verify the previous activity automatically. New progress will now be tracked correctly.
Read full update on Steam ↗Computer Terminal - The computer now displays “PRESS E TO TURN ON” before its first use. - Once switched on, the computer remains powered for the rest of the shift. - Added a clearer 14 × 4 graphical shelf guide. - When carrying a standard VHS, the terminal displays its genre and highlights an available matching slot. - Rewind tapes are excluded from the genre placement helper. - The detailed terminal menu now appears above the shelf guide without overlapping it. - The leaderboard now displays the top 10 players. Steam Achievements - Fixed an issue that prevented achievements from unlocking in release builds. - Existing saves now recheck supported progress for First VHS, First Shelve, Fastest Rewind and Rewind Master. - Rewind Master requires all 56 rewind tapes to be rewound.
Read full update on Steam ↗Fixed rewind tapes sometimes becoming stuck, untargetable, or unable to be picked up after being dropped. Fixed a stale rewinder link that could cause previously rewound tapes to behave as though they were still inside the machine. Tapes dropped in floor piles near the rewinder now remain where they were left. Improved collision handling when tapes are thrown or dropped near shelves and walls. Added recovery for tapes that fall outside the playable store area or become trapped in scenery. Recovered tapes keep their rewound state and remain usable. Added protection against missing ordinary VHS tapes, including Monster movies, and prevents duplicate replacements. Fixed an old RETURNS shelf ownership issue that could interfere with loose rewind tapes.
Read full update on Steam ↗- If VHS progress cannot be fully restored, the game stops saving for that session to protect the existing save files. - Future saves create a backup copy of the previous save. - A dropped rewind tape with a disabled pickup collider becomes interactable again where it lies. - Loose tapes that fall below the floor are moved to the LOST VHS point. - The terminal leaderboard now shows the top 10 players. These safeguards protect future saves; they do not automatically recover progress already lost.

Safe floor-sorting for all you pile-makers on the night shift! 📼

The RETURNS shelf now accepts any VHS; only rewound secret tapes lock into place. Corrected a Fantasy shelf year assignment that could prevent players from finishing it.
