Build a fantasy war-band, pack each unit's backpack, and feed your champions to make them monsters. An async-PvP auto-battler: every opponent is a real player's saved army. Five factions, shaped items, commander skills. Forge a new build every run, then climb the ranked ladder.
Five armies with opposing fantasies and their own mechanics:
• HIGHCREST — a holy chivalric kingdom: elite knights vs a peasant levy swarm, clerics that bring the fallen back.
• THE BONE LEGION — marching undead: a cheap risen horde, a bone-armor wall, and necromancers that raise more mid-fight.
• THE BLOODHORDE — a savage monster warband: berserk rage, ROAR momentum, brute regeneration.
• ELDERWOOD — the moonlit elf court: crit-dancing moonblades behind a thorned grove wall, and a drake that grows up mid-run.
• IRONCLAW — dwarves whose runesmiths permanently forge their kin stronger every single battle.
Every unit carries its own 3×3 backpack. Items have real shapes. Pack a two-handed cleaver next to the right relics and adjacency combos light up. Craft items into stronger ones, hand a mage's soul gem to a footman and watch him cast, or build a carry around army-scaling gear.
Units level by CONSUMING other units and absorb their traits when they do. Your army isn't a pile of copies; it's a handful of named veterans you've grown all run. Max a unit's level and it ASCENDS into an evolved form.
Draft a commander, then draft their skills as you win. From economy engines to army-wide doctrines, including permanent, run-long growth that compounds every round.
Ranked runs settle Elo against the very armies that beat you. Seasons, per-faction mastery, and a ladder of real players' builds to study and counter.
A run takes around 10 minutes. Lose, learn, and go again. The next build is always one more run away.
Every opponent is a real player's saved army. Your army (and your Steam display name) travels to other players' battles, and anonymous match stats help us balance the game. That's it. No ads, no data selling, no tracking. Your Steam ID never even leaves your machine. Questions or data removal: [email protected] .
Warpack 0.9.116 The demo is updated now. The full game, with five factions, releases on 10 November. Every unit, commander, item and relic is redrawn in pixel art. Bone Legion casters are Gravecraft, Bloodhorde casters Hexcraft. The Death Knight is a fighter. Bone 6 wards spells. New GRAPHICS REWORK: every unit, commander, item, relic and skill is redrawn in pixel art. Gravecraft and Hexcraft: the Bone Legion's and the Bloodhorde's casters have their own synergies. Grave Stitcher, Necromancer and Plague Caster are Gravecraft; Goblin Shaman, Goblin Sapper and Blood Chanter are Hexcraft. They were all Mage, which stays with Highcrest. Hexcraft: Mage's tiers plus +3 mana (2) and +6 mana (4) whenever a unit falls, yours or theirs. Summons do not count. Gravecraft: spells grow 2% (2) and 3% (4) stronger for every death in the fight, summons included, up to +60%. Spell power is +15% and +25...
Read full update on Steam ↗Warpack 0.9.115 The Blood Seer gains +1 gold a round. HOW IT WORKS explains RISEN, caster cards say how many a blast hits, the library pane shows mana and levels. A free retire is not a run. Balance The Blood Seer gains +1 gold every round. Commander cards say so. The Blood Chanter starts a fight with 6 mana, so its first rite comes after two swings instead of three. Later rites are unchanged. Blood Tithe, the Chanter's second ascension, is +4 mana per attack: every rite after the first comes a swing sooner. It was 25% opening mana and +3 per attack. New A coin sits beside the gold readout above the shop. Interface HOW IT WORKS opens with a middle-click on a card marked ?, on the pick screens, the boon chips and the commander's skill list. It opened on hover. The forge opened from a Scraps card fades through black on the way in and on the way back. It faded in over the shop, which fla...
Read full update on Steam ↗Warpack 0.9.112 A memory leak while the game waits on a pick is fixed. UNDO FORGE undoes a forge like a feed. The Goblin King loses a gold a round and the scraps; Scrapshot 45 to 42. Balance The Best Deals no longer lays out a free scraps pick when taken. The free Common each round stays. Loot the Bodies pays up to +2 gold a battle (was +3). Scrapshot: 42 damage (was 45). New Handing an item to another unit no longer forges it with that unit's gear on its own. Both pieces sit in the bag, and they forge when you drag one onto the other. UNDO FORGE: a forge is undone like a feed, with the same button or Ctrl+Z, as long as nothing else has happened since. The post-fight recap shows the permanent growth on every unit, yours and the opponent's: PERM +14 DMG, +60 HP, +3 ARMOR under the name. Fixed A memory leak while the game waits on a pick, under the ASCENSION banner or with the help pane...

Misses play their swing, crowds face the fight. New HOW IT WORKS: hover a skill, keystone or ascension card to see its details and what its keywords mean (STUN, SHOVE, BLEED, REVIVE and more). The longest cards are shorter for it. It sits under the card, and the Game settings can switch it off. Balance Blood-Mad Mask: revives go first and the mask refuses the final death (it refused the first fall); +15% damage (was +18%). Bloodthirster: 18% lifesteal (was 18 HP healed on every kill). The Best Deals: the free item is the cheapest COMMON on the shelf, and a frozen item is never the deal (was the cheapest item of any rarity). Phalanx Aegis: +1 damage per 25 max HP and a 25% arrow ward (was per 20 and 30%). Pox Doctors: the Plague Caster joins every 4th round (wa...

A Squire muster, a free Best Deals, Afterburn. Balance Flankers land UNSEEN: for one second after a flanker blinks into the back line, no enemy turns on it, or even looks at it. It strikes first. Splash, cleave and chain lightning still find it. Skills Vengeance (High Abbess, was Blessed Chalice): whenever an ally falls, every holy unit's next swing is a guaranteed CRIT, up to 3 banked per unit (was +1 armor per other holy ally). Blood-Drunk (Warboss, was Loud an' Proud): your berserkers swing 10% faster for every kill they land, up to 5 kills (was +2% damage per other fielded unit). Fixed Every damage bonus reads the same way: +X% damage, or +X damage when it is flat. Cards used to say hits harder, more damage or bonus damage for the same thing. Old Blood Answers says the whelp arrives at the fallen unit's level. It always did. Balance Sunfire Volley: every third arrow a ranged unit lands bursts on the target and up to two enemies beside it. The archer never stops shooting. It used to cast a spell in place of its third arrow. Every Spell Brings a Body (Blood Seer): the runt lands beside the spell's target and goes for it, and each mage brings its own three. The three used to be shared by the whole army. Read full update on Steam ↗OATHS Five oaths per commander, all open from round one. Keep them in any order. Every ask and its reward sits on the card under FIGHT. Click it to open THE OATHS. Win streaks are gone. OATHS KEPT counts on your profile. SWALLOW A unit swallows at most 2 traits on top of the ones it is born with. When a meal offers more than fits, a small card asks which ones land. Boards where every unit carried every trait won 87% of their fights past round 8, and a game with one best build stops being a game. Sorry to the everything-eaters. Runs in progress keep what they have swallowed. The opponent pool starts fresh. Expect the bundled rivals for a few hours while it refills. The unit card shows born traits in gold and swallowed ones in blue, right under the role. SUDDEN DEATH The burn starts at 20 seconds, was 15. One fight in eight hit it, and one in ten of those went to the side that would hav...
Read full update on Steam ↗Content patch. Eight units you already own got a skill of their own, and the nine least picked commander skills were rebuilt from scratch. HighcrestFootman blocks the first hit. Squire swears to the knight beside it and takes up the sword when it falls. Scout marks targets for your archers. Cleric's heals also shield. Bone LegionSkeleton Archer's killing arrows shatter into the next enemy. Ghoul heals to full on a kill. Wraith freezes everyone around it when it appears behind the line. Necromancer's first raise is a copy of whatever died nearest. New keystones: Forced March (Highcrest) Drums of the Dead and Scent of Blood (Bone Legion)Red Mist and Rampage (Bloodhorde)Shield Wall now covers the whole army against arrows. Skills: Twincast, Sunfire, Cinder, Conclave, Bounty, Canonized, Last Light, The Drowned, Deadfall. Full list in WHAT'S NEW in the game.
Read full update on Steam ↗Warpack is an auto-battler: you build an army in a shop, position it on a grid, and it fights on its own against armies other players built. The demo is free on the store page, two factions, about ten minutes a run. One steady pace Battles used to speed up the longer they ran, so the busiest part of a fight was shown fastest. We counted it: you have to read about four times as much per second in round fourteen as in round one, and the game was accelerating into that. The ramp is gone. One pace from start to finish, and units march in a little slower so the lines meet with room to follow what happens. Also in this one Arrows land IN what they hit instead of blinking out on arrival The fight log no longer stops early, so a fight's last kills are listed A unit mustered "born bearing HOLY" can pass that trait on when you feed it Hovering a unit you already own says how much rarer it is in...
Read full update on Steam ↗Big one! The rating system is rebuilt: your rating now moves once per RUN based on how far you got, not per fight. Banking a win can never cost you rating anymore. A few of you called this out on reddit, you were right, thanks. Also in this patch: THE ENDLESS. Win the whole arc and the run no longer ends. The ceiling opens, the enemy keeps growing, and the only question is how far you get. Rating settles at the ceiling either way. A profile worth opening. Pick the face you wear (every unit of a faction you have played, plus a set of painted portraits), crest, colour, border, title and a saying. All earned, nothing bought. Other players meet exactly what you put together. A fight log that explains the battle. Every blow with its damage, revives, shields, poison. Click a line mid fight to jump the replay there. Open the whole battle afterwards and follow one unit from first swing to las...
Read full update on Steam ↗Visual update! Now fights look even cooler!Spent a couple days making combat look the way it should have from the start.Archers actually kick back when they shoot now, and arrows fly in an arc instead of a laser line. crits are gold in the air so you can see the big one coming. deaths throw sparks, casters pulse the ground when they cast. Also finally found the bug where explosions got cut in half by units standing low on the screen. its been there since launch, nobody reported it, fights just looked slightly off and now i know why.No balance changes, every fight plays out exactly the same as before.
Read full update on Steam ↗Small patch, no gameplay changes. If your connection is slow or flaky, the game could silently fail to upload your armies and match results. The uploads were too big and gave up after 4 seconds without ever retrying. We spotted it in the telemetry: one player's armies were reaching the pool while his match results never arrived, not once. Fixed three ways: uploads are now about a fifth of the size, they get proper time to finish, and anything that still fails is saved and sent again later.
Read full update on Steam ↗A crowded fight was mud. You could not hear a kill happen in one. I went and counted. A full board was firing around 25 sounds a second, and up to eight identical sword swings landed in the same frame. Everything that actually tells you something, deaths, spells, revives, was buried under that by about ten to one. Sounds now cap per type. Two swings at a time instead of eight. Your ear only resolves two or three of them anyway, the rest was mush that ate all the headroom. Swings count as background noise. Deaths, casts and revives count as information, and information never gets pushed out by background. For a beat after something important happens, the swings thin out around it. That is the part that makes a kill actually land. Nothing was added. It is the same audio, just not all of it at once. Measured after the change: swing noise roughly halved, and none of the sounds that matter...
Read full update on Steam ↗Battles now open with both armies standing still for a moment. It changes more than I expected it to. Thanks to everyone playing. Most of this came out of match data again. Both armies hold their opening formation for about a second before anyone moves. Fights used to start already in motion, so there was never a moment to see who was on the board or what you were about to watch. Units shove each other around less. They also end up standing further apart, because a hard correction overshoots and bounces them back together. Spoils now come at rounds 3, 6, 9 and 12. They used to come at 3, 8, 13 and 18 — and round 18 was impossible to reach, since a run ends at 16 rounds at the most. Measured across every recorded run: 1.37 keystones per run, and 15 percent of runs finished without making a single one of these choices. Every offer now includes at least one relic only your faction can ge...
Read full update on Steam ↗Four skills nobody was taking, and the commander nobody was winning with. Thanks to everyone playing. All of this came out of match data. Worst commander in the game since launch at 34.6 percent, and all of it sat in her healing half. Second Dawn: revives at full health, was 90 percent. Novena removed, 23 percent and the worst skill in the game. Now Martyr's Legacy: when one of your holy units falls, every living ally gains +4 damage for the rest of the fight. Stacks. Blessed Chalice: was +30 percent holy spell power, now +1 armor per other holy ally you field. Procession of the Fallen: 20 percent to 45 percent. Heraldry of the Lion removed, refused 56 times out of 57. Now Breakthrough: your knights swing again immediately whenever they kill. Soul Siphon removed, taken once in 29 offers. Now Conscription: whatever your arcane units kill rises as a skeleton on your side. The risen carr...
Read full update on Steam ↗Most of this patch came from watching new players try the game. Special thanks to Tim for a pile of feedback. 1,500 recorded battles told us exactly where new players struggle. Here's everything, properly listed: Added a welcome screen on first launch — a short intro with HOW TO PLAY and TO WAR buttons. The full manual no longer auto-opens. Rebuilt HOW TO PLAY as a six-tab handbook: The Run, Gold, Feed, Backpack, Combat, Tips. Added diagrams: feeding a unit into the same unit (= one whole level) and item adjacency combos are now shown as pictures. The feed tip now states that same-unit feeding grants a full level. Fixed: the stronghold tip now clears after buying ANY building. It previously ignored Barracks purchases. Coach tips now remain available through round 7 (was 5), so a skipped lesson is never lost. The game now boots in seconds. The art catalog previously loaded before the f...
