Out of Order is a cozy roguelike deckbuilder about running a vending machine. Your stockroom is your deck, and every day is one round of restocking, selling, and drafting new products. A weekly quota that keeps climbing decides whether your contract survives.
A run is twelve weeks at one venue. Stock the machine well and you profit; stock it poorly and customers walk away, perishables spoil, and the weekly quota check ends the contract.
Each day the machine restocks from your stockroom, the day's customers come to buy, and you choose one of three new products to add to your deck. Chocolate pays more next to drinks, an energy drink gives a bonus to whoever's next in line, and a pizza slice pays a bonus if it empties the entire machine. Survive all twelve weekly quota checks to win the run.
You get a hand on the shelf, too. Each morning you can fill a few empty slots yourself or send unsold stock back to the stockroom, and the restock fills the rest. At the end of each week you can bolt a fitting onto the shelf: a spotlight on one slot, a chiller drawer, a light bar along a whole row. Shelf rules pay extra for a row stocked the right way, and a couple of them invite trouble overnight.
Post a meal deal sign and customers who buy one half of the pair may grab the other, and that sale pays extra. Prize foods sometimes hide a token inside. Play it in the morning, at the draft, at a renewal or when something breaks, or sell it for cash.
At the end of a week you might be offered a contract: put up with a hazard for a few days, like a bigger venue cut or a boycott on one kind of product, in exchange for a reward, like cash, an easier quota, or a craze that boosts sales of one kind of product. Turn it down and nothing changes.
What's in the game:
- 58 food and drink products, including prize foods that can hide a token
- 25 venues, from a laundromat to an international airport, each with its own crowd, commission cut, and quota curve
- 27 customers with a variety of appetites. The cop only buys donuts
- 41 machine upgrades: neon signs, cooling, tip jars, meal deal signs, and shelf fittings
- 9 prize tokens to find, play, or cash in
- 70 feats that unlock venues, product bundles, upgrades, cabinet skins, and color themes
- Seeded runs (type in a seed, get the exact same run) and auto saves after every decision
- Full controller support
Running a machine means dealing with everything that can, and often does, go wrong. Slots jam, cooling fails, and overnight break-ins cost you stock. Each venue brings its own trouble: rats at the zoo, pickpockets working the stadium crowd, power cuts at the aquarium. Weather can influence the day too. Storms and heat waves are forecast a day ahead, so you can plan and restock around them; card skimmers and tax audits happen with no warning. Every problem needs a decision: pay a technician to fix it right away, or repair it yourself for free while that part of the machine stays out of action for two days.
Occasionally you'll be offered a second vending machine at a new venue. Take on the extra contract, or decline and stay focused on the one you have.
No micro transactions. No real gambling. Just honest vending.
About the demo : The demo contains four-week runs at four venues, with a reduced product lineup. The shelf, fittings, meal deals, prize tokens and contracts are all in. Trouble is limited to storms, rush days, jammed slots and failing fridges, there are no second machines, and progress doesn't carry into the full game.

Read full update on Steam ↗Whats New!ShelvingEach morning you get 3 shelf actions per machine. Hand-fill an empty slot with whatever you want from the stockroom, or pull something that isn't selling. The random restock still fills the rest, so if you'd rather not bother, the game plays the same as before.Where you put things now matters too:- Eye-level chill: two or more cold products on the top shelf, and cold sales from that row pay 10% more.- Kid-height sweets: where kids come by, sweets on the bottom shelf pay 15% more.- Themed shelf: fill a whole row with one kind of product, and every sale from it pays 8% more.- Watch the bottom shelf overnight. Too much fresh food down there brings mice. Too many premium products tempt a break-in. UpgradesAt the end of the week you can also attach an upgrade to a single slot:- Eye-Level Shelf: shoppers check that slot first.- Spotlight: a craved product sells for 10% mor...
Read full update on Steam ↗What's New- A big shake-up of the machine upgrades: every rarity tier is now worth its slot, restock and crowd-drawing upgrades scale with the venue you're in, and weekly quotas got a touch friendlier to match- Perishables are a real strategy now. Fresh-focused upgrades pay extra on every perishable sale, and each perishable in the machine shows how many days it has left, going red when it's about to turn- Upgrade cards warn you when a pick won't do anything for your current stock- Repairs are clearer: banners count down in plain words, the OUT OF ORDER sign comes down the moment the fix lands, and a recall no longer claims it was "repaired"- A smoother start for new players: the first morning tells you Space stocks the machine, and you can peek at your stockroom right from the daily delivery- Contract terms are locked in when you sign, and when a run ends you go straight to the resul...
