Thanks to everyone playing Captive 3000 during Next Fest and sending feedback. The biggest request was to make it easier to jump in and keep playing, even without an internet connection. Version 1.60 is now live for both the full game and the demo, and it's all about that!Play without registering an accountYou no longer need to register to play. On the sign-in screen, choose TRY WITHOUT REGISTERING to start straight away. Your progress, checkpoints and blockchain fragment saves are kept on your local computer, and you can pick up where you left off any time.If you want to appear on the leaderboard you'll still need to register a player name. Steam Cloud savesGuest progress is now backed up with Steam Cloud, in both the full game and the demo. Start on one computer and carry on from another. Windows and macOS share the same saves. Read full update on Steam ↗Update v1.42 — Directional Stereo Sound, Merchant and Warlock Voices, 100 Achievements, and a Big UI Polish Pass! It's been a busy stretch since the last update post. Most of the recent changes have been user interface improvements, but there have also been two big additions:1. More Immersive AudioDirectional sound effects — The game now plays in stereo. Enemies, projectiles, explosions, tripwire shocks, landmines and ambient hazards come from the side they're actually on, panning fully left/right when something is beside you and blending to center when it's dead ahead or behind. Switch to Mono toggle — Prefer the old behavior? There's a new "Switch to Mono / Stereo SFX" toggle in the Quick Menu (defaults to stereo). The Merchant and Warlocks speak — The merchant and warlocks now greet you with hundreds of voiced lines.Distinct interaction sounds — Statues, windows, holowalls and murals...

No more spending your single marker and hoping you remember the rest.Projectile Trails on the Minimap (Map Super)See exactly where your shots go. Map Super now traces your projectiles across the minimap as a small glowing dot, colour-coded by weapon (Throw Gold, Pistol, Auto, Laser, Ion Pulse, Flamer). Great for lining up shots down long corridors at distant enemies Four New Upgrades at the MerchantA brand-new "Super" tier for four classic items — each a permanent upgrade:X-Ray Super — while standing on a ladder, look up o...
Read full update on Steam ↗Update 1.13 — Controller Comfort & Mac Fullscreen Thanks to everyone testing the demo during the run-up to Next Fest — a big batch of your controller and Mac feedback just went live. If you play on a gamepad or on a Mac, this one's for you. 🎯 Smarter controller aimingMagnetic cursor — the on-screen pointer now gently snaps onto nearby hotspots, so landing on those small HUD buttons with a stick is finally effortless. Push away and it lets go instantly — no fighting it. Hover tooltips on controller — labels now pop up as you glide the pointer over hotspots, just like with a mouse. Droid View labels — the deflector, master key, sickle bait, forcefield, ladder, emergency teleport and Level-Up slots now show tooltips too. 🕹️ Controller fixes"Select Star System" dropdown now opens with A / ✕ and is fully D-pad navigable. Read full update on Steam ↗\ Achievements, Full Controller Support & Steam DeckI've just pushed a big batch of improvements to the Captive 3000 Demo on Windows and macOS. This is the October Next Fest polish pass — grab a controller, plug in a Deck, and dive back in.★ NINE Steam AchievementsThere are now 9 achievements to chase across the first three star systems — take down elite bosses, breach a certain very dangerous door, and put the legendary Eye to rest. That last one has three tiers based on how efficiently you clear it, so there's a real reason to come back and beat your best run.★ Full Controller Support (Xbox • PlayStation • Steam Deck)- On-screen button prompts now match YOUR controller — Xbox ABXY, PlayStation ✕○□△, or Steam Deck.- Remap any action, including the B / Circle button (tap to bind, hold to back out).- Hold a movement button to keep striding down long corridors instead of tapping over an...
Read full update on Steam ↗Hey everyone — a quick one, and it's a direct result of your feedback. A lot of you said the opening of the demo felt a little tight on resources before you could really get going, so I've given new players a bigger head start.Faster startNew players now begin with more gold and EXP — enough to pick up your first weapon and put an early upgrade into it much sooner. The first level should feel less grindy and let you get into the fun part faster.Fixes & polishFixed the on-screen EXP counter reading incorrectly when playing without an account, so your available EXP now displays correctly from the start.Plus the ongoing stability and quality-of-life improvements from recent updates (auto-pause on focus loss, smoother resume loading, and more).🎵 The soundtrack is now on YouTubeI've put the full Captive 3000 soundtrack up as three continuous videos — one for each set of floors, over 100 t...
Read full update on Steam ↗Update — Captive 3000 (v1.2)Hey everyone — this is our first update post, so it rounds up the improvements from the last stretch of development, not just the latest patch. Thanks to everyone who's been playing and sending feedback... a lot of this came straight from you!More musicAdded 15 new tracks (5 for each floor), bringing the soundtrack to 36 tracks per floor — over 100 in total. The floors should feel a lot fresher on long runs.Combat & safetyThe game now auto-pauses when the window loses focus — if a system dialog pops up or you tab away mid-fight, you won't come back to find you've been taking hits while your keyboard wasn't reaching the game. The deflector now remembers its remaining charge when you resume or reload from a checkpoint, instead of quietly resetting.Visual polishFixed a bug where Ghost enemies would occasionally not appear until you reloaded.Smoother ladder anim...
