SLYTHE is an arcade shooter roguelite where you steer an ever-moving snake of heroes — each with their own attacks, passives, and classes. Inspired by auto-battlers: stack heroes of the same class for powerful class bonuses, buy copies to level them up, and build a snake that clears the arena on its own — if you steer it right.
Between arenas you play the economy: hire from the shop, bank gold for interest, ban the heroes you never want offered again, and shape a build from 80+ passive items with run-warping effects. Every sixth arena throws an elite at you; arena 25 holds the final boss. Beating it is where SLYTHE starts, not where it ends.
And you don't have to do it alone: grab a second controller and put two snakes in the same arena.
Your snake never stops moving — steer it with keyboard, mouse-follow, or gamepad (two stick modes)
Your heroes attack automatically when enemies are near
Combine heroes of the same class to unlock unique class bonuses
Clearing arenas grants gold — spend it, or bank it and earn interest
Buying copies of the same hero levels them up; at Lv.3 they unlock special effects
Ban heroes from the shop to sharpen your odds — build control is the real weapon
Local co-op: a second player joins with a gamepad and steers their own snake with their own build
Separate parties, shared gold — split the shop, argue about rerolls, negotiate the economy
Go down mid-arena and you're out until your partner clears it — clutch saves get loud
Enemies bulk up for two, and bosses doubly so — bring a real build, not a passenger
True endless mode — difficulty keeps scaling for as long as you survive
Loop past arena 25 with a run-defining relic each time around — and a new chaos modifier stacking every loop
New Game + tiers stack lasting difficulty for veteran builds
A global all-time leaderboard — names, avatars, and your rank right on the main menu
Custom runs with game-twisting modifiers when you want the rules bent
50+ heroes, each with unique attacks and passives
15+ classes granting stat boosts and modifiers to your snake
80+ passive items with run-warping global effects
Local 2-player co-op — on the couch
Elite fights, a final boss, and rotating arena themes
41 Steam achievements, from first blood to the ones we won't spoil
Post-run stat breakdowns for the theorycrafters
Full controller support with rebindable inputs, native on Steam Deck
Steam Cloud saves — hop between desktop and Deck mid-run
An interactive tutorial that teaches steering in your own control scheme
A pumping synthwave soundtrack driving every wave
Grab a second controller — SLYTHE is going to be a two-player game. When SLYTHE launches, it ships with full local co-op: start a 2-player run straight from the main menu, and each of you steers your own snake in the same arena. Player 1 keeps keyboard & mouse, Player 2 plays on gamepad. How it works Two snakes, one arena. Each player builds and steers their own snake of heroes, with floating P1/P2 tags and color-coded HP rows to keep the chaos readable. Split aggro. Enemies hunt whichever snake is closer — positioning matters, and so does bailing your partner out. Survivor fights on. One snake down doesn't end the arena: the survivor can clear the wave and carry the run. Both down, run over. Turn-based shopping. Between arenas the shop hands off between players. You each hire for your own party — your build is yours. Rebalanced for two Tougher enemies and bosses — two snakes' worth o...
