Everything below is in the free demo today, and in the full game when it comes out on November 5th. This is what I've been duct-taping since Next Fest: I make dying soundsRecorded new voice takes for deaths, NPC speech, growls, barks and attackers' run-upsAdded birdsong outdoors, sounds for eating and drinking - the last ones sound pretty nastyI also made the game's sounds play Chopin's funeral march.Mixels removedItems, characters and rooms now share one pixel grid Some items in the world are redrawn with more detail NPC rebalancingOrdinary enemies go down faster, elites are stronger than everHostiles run at you once you stop in their room, not while you walk through itA tidier bagThe backpack now lets you filter for each kind of itemReworked the backpack's grid to show more items at onceDeck editorYou can no longer add Block without a shield in your deck, or Parry without a weaponMe...
Read full update on Steam ↗New to Manala: Equinox War?Manala is a videogame about live-action roleplay (LARP). The swords are fake, the hits don't count and the monster is just a guy in a mask. A huge thank you to everyone who has tried out the Manala demo during Next Fest. I hope you've enjoyed the weird world of LARP! Sieging camps, looking at logs and watching streamers try the game out for the first time has led to an incredibly busy week of fixing stuff. Here's what has been updated in the demo: BugfixesA fight no longer stays open when the last enemy dies of poison or plague at the end of a roundLaying In: when all three swings miss, you now see three misses, each with its own whooshWhen a siege ends and you are still inside the enemy camp, you get kicked out of the campLoot sacks: every defending NPC in the sieged area now drops one, excluding neutralsMana potions: you can hold 2 in your battle deck and...

The siege mechanic feels more like a real LARP and will be the main way to battle the opposing side in the full game as well.Camp siegesIt's now possible to break down the gates of the enemy camp, get...

Read full update on Steam ↗A new startNew characters now play a short scripted opening before they enter the world. You check in, get your costume, gear up, fight, loot, craft and walk out through the camp gates. Two sides to every cardMost cards can now be played strong or weak. Strong does what the card says and is spent for the fight. Weak does less and goes back into your deck. Flip a card with right-click or Shift. Decks now have a fixed size (30 cards) and a limit of 4 copies per card. Enemies look at what you are wearing and change their approach to combat during the match. You can see the cards being playedYour card flies to the table and its name is called out. The enemy's card turns face up in front of them. Your defensive stance stands at your feet until it blocks. Cheat cards leave a blood seal. A gold tab shows whose turn it is. Every card back is now the frog. Classes and their weaponsStat adjustm...
Read full update on Steam ↗Your character wears what you carryThe humans on both hosts have new bodies. They are of real LARPers in their own costumes. Equip a sword, a helmet or a shield and it is drawn on your character: in the room, in the character window and in a fight. Other players see it on you as well. Dwarves, orcs and dark-elves are finding their new identity soon as well. The world looks a bit darkerIn parallel with the new player characters, room background and fight backdrop now look a bit coarser as well. The visual style of the game is moving more towards a early 90s vibe. Trading shows what movesThe trade table now shows a picture of each item and the count you are offering. You can offer part of a stack instead of the whole pile. Smaller things...The game lets you knew earlier if you pick a name that can't be used. NPCs of the same name in the wrong room now longer have an incorrect quest turn...
Read full update on Steam ↗The fight screen shows the fightIn a group fight the enemy you are focused on now grows larger on screen and the others step back so you always see who you are about to hit. Punching and fleeing are now cards in your hand, next to everything else you can play. The combat log has moved off the stage into its own tab in the chat window, so the cards and the fighters have the room to themselves. You can now actually read the screen!Text across the HUD has been resized on one scale. Names, numbers and menu lines that were squint-small now hold their own and the windows around them were sized to match. Various bugfixesFleeing or dying when in a group now actually takes you out of a fight. Picking up a heavy item warns you about the weight instead of failing silently and looting a pile reports what actually fits in your backpack. The enemy NPC spell shield is now a pool you can watch run do...
Read full update on Steam ↗Every enemy fights its own wayEach enemy type now builds its deck around one way of fighting. Some poison you and wait. Some stun and keep you from answering. Some stand in front of the ones behind them. Enemies with the same health no longer play the same fight. Group fights show what everyone is doingWhen someone fighting beside you acts, their damage appears on your screen as it lands. Their character reacts when it is hit, instead of standing still. The combat log calls them by name. One account, more than one windowYou can open a second window from the settings menu and play another character next to the first. Each window runs on its own, and you can open as many as you want. Female characters look like themselves to everyoneOther players now see the female character art, not a stand-in. Wishlisting is what tells me the work is worth continuing: Come and complain or submit bug r...
Read full update on Steam ↗Fallen enemies leave shades Defeated bodies now gather in their own corner of the room, and a fully looted corpse rises as a pale shade that drifts through the room and mutters as it goes. You can see what combat does Poison, plague and armor damage now appear at the target the moment they land, and enemies that strike first play their opening attacks on screen before your turn. Item descriptions say what using an item does Mage, healer and alchemist class weapons all do something when used, and their descriptions now state what. More of the game reads in English Merchant, deck and chat messages that still came through in Estonian are now translated. Wishlisting is what tells me the work is worth continuing: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4898080/?utm_source=steam&utm_medium=announcement&utm_campaign=patch_0823 Come and complain or submit bug reports here, I read and reply to all...
Read full update on Steam ↗Manala is a small MMO where fights are played out with a deck of cards. Here are things I've shipped since the last update: Smoother combat animations Combat used to stutter beforehand - the animations and movement when fighting are now more acceptable to the eye. Improved view of deck editor You can now clearly see if your gear does not support any cards that are in your deckThe window clearly focuses on the card that you are looking at Closing the editor with an unsaved deck now asks for confirmation so your changes don't get lost Card legibility improvements Compacted and updated the descriptions of all cards in the game; they are now faster to read and easier to grasp Beasts carry reagents Common beasts used to drop mainly skins - now, all sorts of goodies have been added to the loot table Hotkey fixes Opening windows with hotkeys worked before - closing them with a hotkey now wor...
