About this game

Description

Supplied by the Steam store

A shot that has not reflected cannot kill anything.

Whoever meets Medusa's eyes turns to stone. Perseus defeated her while watching her reflection in his polished shield. MirrorBullet is built on the same rule. Sentries fire on their own, one round each, and a round that flies straight harms nothing. Bend it off a mirror and it becomes lethal. Mirrors are the only weapon you have, and each stage decides how many you get: never more than five, and on the opening boards exactly one.

A round changes with its bounce count. After one reflection it destroys a target and stops. With exactly two bounces, it pierces a target and continues like the arrow of Artemis. With three or more bounces, defeating a target triggers a blast like the thunderbolt of Zeus in a 3×3 area centered on that target. The blast can destroy your core too.

Nothing is hidden and nothing is random. Each piece on the board carries the name of the myth it comes from: the Mirror of Daedalus, fixed into the floor; Iris, who splits one round into two; the Aegis, which turns a frontal hit into a harmless clink; Talos, the bronze giant who falls only to a round with enough bounces; the Ferry of the Styx, which crosses one way only; and the Ring of Helios, which raises a round's tier without turning it. Collecting every amethyst is one requirement for three stars.

Later sectors introduce more pieces. The Mirror of Janus turns its other face each time it is struck. The Gates of Hermes carry a round across the board with its direction and tier intact. The Pool of Narcissus reflects a shot and lets a copy through. Echo sleeps until a reflected round reaches her, then fires one of her own, so a single mirror can start a chain.

The journey runs through twelve sectors, from Argos through the Labyrinth of Daedalus, Crete and the River Styx up to Olympus, each with its own light and floor. Boards range from six cells by five up to eleven by nine.

All 144 stages are hand-built. A solver proves the minimum number of mirrors for each stage before it ships; that minimum is the par. Clear a stage for one star, clear within par for two, and earn the third by clearing on your first shot, within par, with every amethyst collected.
