About this game

Description

Supplied by the Steam store

Welcome, New Hire. It's your job to keep the Company's website alive.

You run the infrastructure: servers, traffic routes, caches and safeguards. Every level sends more traffic and more problems your way. Build it, scale it, and keep it online through the SURGE .

Start on probation and work through eight connected levels. Survive layoffs to budget cuts, two promotions and a merger. Your money, upgrades, and infrastructure carry forward from level to level. Fail an objective and the run ends for good. Clear all eight and you can keep going in Endless Mode, where traffic keeps climbing until the site finally crashes. Chase a higher score.

Objectives may require you to:

Survive for a set amount of time

Process a target number of requests

Reach a revenue goal

Keep dropped requests below a limit

Maintain average response time through the SURGE

Complete several objectives at once

Build the path from the Website to a served request with Load Balancers, Web Servers, Databases, Caches, Filters, CDNs, Rate Gates and more. Drop nodes straight onto the board or insert them into an existing wire. Every node has a price: more capacity costs more, protection adds delay, and each Website Feature that pays better also brings traffic, and junk, your build may not be ready for.

Nodes deteriorate as load climbs: Fine , Sweating , On Fire , Melting , Burnt Out . Keep a node at 100% load for 12 seconds and it burns out, taking its capacity with it and dumping its load on its neighbors. A run also ends if your money hits $0, the site stays completely down for 8 seconds, requests keep failing for 20 seconds, or User Satisfaction is too low when a Surge ends.

Hardware fails, and it's always on your watch. Faults hit a real machine on your board, name the broken part ("Cooling fan: replace"), and start a countdown. Start the fix in time and you pay a short disruption. Miss the deadline and the damage is worse. Some critical faults burn a node out or cut its wires for a minute or more.

Between levels, the Upgrades screen is where you prepare for what comes next. Each round offers a rotating mix of permanent upgrades and temporary tools. Buy the upgrades that keep paying off, then pick which tools to bank as Initiatives. You can carry three into the next level, so choose the ones you'll want when the pager goes off.

Website Features are how you push the business harder. Each one adds a new way to earn, and more feature slots open as the campaign goes on. The catch is that every Feature also brings its own traffic, and some of it is junk, so you decide how much extra demand your infrastructure can take. More income gives you room to expand, but only if the site keeps up.

Red Flags remix the campaign with tougher rules and bigger score bonuses. Unlock them by hitting milestones, then stack as many as you dare. Each one turns a familiar run into a new problem: hidden information, tighter restrictions, unpredictable income, or interference from the rest of the company.
