Dictatorship Simulator is a roguelike deckbuilder where you manipulate a political simulation in order to bring down the government and become dictator. Play you cards to change how the system works : invert the direction of influence, spread effects across the system or just grind everything to a standstill.
Every part of the political system interacts with others . Play cards to change how this interaction works . Don't like how the media reports on the economy? Build a perception deck and play a blackmail so they change their tune.
Craft your deck to fit your playstyle - do you prefer to change reality? Or would you rather manipulate peoples feelings about it?
After all, who cares what the crime rate is? What matters is what it feels like.
Random event choices, bosses and chapter progression unlock cards, giving you more extreme tools to become dictator next time.
Build your deck from just a couple basic cards to contain troll farms, blackmail, and even coups. Slowly erode democracy over multiple chapters until there is nothing left - but you.
You will need some of them - at least until you reach the top. Random Events allow you to gain followers which give you persistent bonuses that further enhance your deck.
Open source projects allow games like this to exist. Unfortunately, they often struggle financially. Because of this I decided that 5% of the profits of this game will be donated to the open source projects that made this possible: the godot foundation and the blender foundation.
\ - 2026-09-29Fixes- Card drop zone highlight no longer draws above card.
Read full update on Steam ↗As I am focusing on finishing the release content, this patch mostly contains some balancing changes, as well as some more "juice" specifically for card unlocks. I also switched around the cards that are available in the demo to make the experience more interesting, and to better represent the kind of cards you can expect in the full version.Another interesting change is that "Agitated" now just doubles incoming damage.\ - 2026-09-15Features- Global card modifiers: now supporting cards such as "for the next x cards played: ..."- New card effect: reduce cost of next X cards by Y. Cards automatically show their new cost and change the cost color appropriately.- This game now has Extremism.. mechanic! Some cards are considered so unthinkable that you have to play them multiple times before poeple get used to it and you stop taking damage.- Show seed being used (can currently not be set t...
Read full update on Steam ↗Unlockable contentThe demo now features unlocks. Run progression, events and bosses unlock cards for future runs.Card draw changesI also changed how drawing cards works - instead of randomly choosing from all available cards, the game is now creating a bag filled with a certain number of each rarity, then draws from that. In essence, this makes it much more likely to draw higher Tier cards.Huge architecture rewrite and QA improvementsUnder the hood, this patch is the biggest change yet. I realized that most of the bugs the game had were actually all caused by the same underlying architectural issue. Unfortunately, this required me to rewrite significant parts of the game, touching over 7000 lines of code, and resulting in a net -1231 lines. The result should be a much more easy to maintain engine.I then took another week to work exclusively on QA improvements. While the core gameplay c...
