I’ve always loved ships and boats. Tall ships, steamers, pre-dreadnought french monstrosities, I love 'em all! ShipShaper is an explorative ship builder I made for the simple pleasure of shaping boats and ships. You pull, push, and drag forms into place, creating everything from humble fishing vessels to tall ships, ironclads, and early dreadnoughts. You can create historical ships, fantasy ships, steampunk you name it.
It's a boat designer married to experimental interfaces that are intended to take away the tedium from designing boats. No 3D skills required, no endless stacks of cubes, just some organic shaping and attaching props and functional items to create whatever ship you want.
When you’re done, you can place your ships into a world and sail them, the game does a proper analysis of your creation, its propulsion, hull shape and weight, all in order so you can properly enjoy and test your creation.
ShipShaper is about creating a foundational technology that will power my own future games, connect my franchise but also empower other creators to have fun with ships and have a usable output, game-ready and usable.
Features:
Free-form building
Responsive shaping
Expanding library of details and props
Test your ship, get sailing behavior that is derived from your design.
Export FBX or STL 3d files with a license to use how you see fit.
Export to Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles
Export to Future sailing game under development

Hi everyone, it's been a few weeks, more than that even!, shame on me... An unusually long time since updates. And unless you've been dipping into the public beta here on steam (via game properties/betas). But it's time to update some stuff on the main branch, that's been tested well enough and also solves some major issues with performance, and a ton of QoL and content features you all deserve to play with. Now there are some features in this update that will make you go hmmmmmm.. Tomas are you sure this is gonna fit that store description.. Well.. I'm not saying much for now.. But big things are coming to Shipshaper, bigger even than on the Beta. And they require a proper big celebration when the time is right. But lets not diss this update cuz it's massive!!!!! Lets be honest, them gunports are the business, I just wish they would do something more... dunno what...tho.. I'm stuck.....

Read full update on Steam ↗It finally got done! An Item selector is here. This has been such a highly requested feature, and I'm so excited to find out if it scratches that itch that I made a trailer for this update. Also because there is so much more, things like the wake of the ship now making waves, just has to be seen .. So here's a little trailer.. Item Library modeIts a solid question, why did Shipshaper not ship with this core feature, a simple list to select items from. Well the answer is a long story, but the short of it. To do that, every item type needed its own placement mechanism. You dont want to drag a mast and then see all the rail loops or places where windows go.. You just want to drag it where masts go. The same for guns , you just wanna drag or place them where guns go, not where masts go. So its a circus of different modes.. Once you remove the organic freeform logic, you gotta replace it w...
Read full update on Steam ↗TLDR: This update features a crane that salvages sunk squadron ships, a overhaul of rudders, new superstructures and dragging improvements. Hi everyone, another week and another major update. This one has an experiment with a fun new sandbox activity, salvaging wrecks. I needed a bit of a break from major features, so this is the result. And if you ask "why Tomas are you adding gameplay to a sandbox without goals", then my answer is... "wait and see" :) I also want to give a headsup to the nr 1 complained about issue, the lack of an item picker in the interface. Clearly I hear you, and starting today that is the nr 1 feature for the next update. But also realize the reason that this is a hard challenge is that the way shipshaper runs at 60fps mostly, is that it cuts up ships into 'zones'. This innovation is great to make the entire thing happen, but makes dragging from a menu very har...
Read full update on Steam ↗Ahoy ShipShapers! I hope you've been enjoying preparing your creations for the weekly challenge that was mentioned by Wired Productions yesterday - but today we want to tell you about the first proper major update to ShipShaper. This has been a mad dash all week to get a lot of your feedback integrated, while having a ton of fun with the enhanced physics I added last week and just bringing that to the next level. If you're up for a 40 minute rant on how this Early Access Is going to run (chaotically with a lot of player involvement and lots of development spurts), check out this video. THE SQUADRONS UPDATECommand a line formation, ram enemies, dive beneath the waves, massive QoL updates, new parts , new physics. A ton of stuff. So basically the new full physics mode added earlier has started a mad dash to improve it and add much needed depth to the world sandbox. you can now have stuf...
Read full update on Steam ↗After a day of testing butting the "full physics" toggle in world mode live,, have fun sinking and testing your ships with this fuller simulation.. Don't put all your guns in the back, unless you want to keel over ;) Added a new full physics button that will allow ships to list, keel over and sink. stability is derived from hull rations, superstructures, gun weight, riggers and so forth. if you have no autosaves it will show the help menu when you boot the game for the first time middle hull themes change back to the previous theme after selecting the whaleback bow (which changes the middle to the humb, this now reverts to what it was before) made a new lighter smoke particlefx, that is properly lit by the boat and sky made medium and small emplacements be smaller (wider scale range).. added review reminders the 3rd and 5th save time or first time you submit a ship (only then ever, an...
Read full update on Steam ↗Alright that beta got tested with QA and some of you also noticed the beta updating. A few niceties, windowed mode and steamstack smoke! also I added a little reminder to review the game, it shows 3 times ever after finishing a workshop upload.. We're nearly at 50 english reviews, which apparently is a major algorithmic milestone, so thank you all! added smoke to funnels when sailing (click on the ocean to set sail and watch em smoke it up) added alt +enter windowed mode support , press alt + enter to go to windowed mode improved collisions to be less jittery added review reminder when submitting a workshop item some small item fixes, a funnel didn't rotate and such.
Read full update on Steam ↗Hi Everyone. As this is Early Access you can expect lots of updates. The first one is already available on the development beta Go to game properties/betas and select the development branch, wait for it to update and voila. I usually test these out for a day at least to see if they're stable. So if you want the latest stuff, check out that branch. added smoke to funnels when sailing (click on the ocean to set sail and watch em smoke it up)added alt +enter windowed mode support , press alt + enter to go to windowed modeimproved collisions to be less jittery added review reminder when submitting a workshop itemsome small item fixes, a funnel didn't rotate and such. Also the user reviews are nearly at 50, if the game gets 50+ reviews in a language then it will tick over to "very positive" and steam will start promoting the game more. So if you are enjoying shipshaper and you feel it dese...

Read full update on Steam ↗ShipShaper is going to Gamescom, and a demo updateHi everyone, I am hard at work on the various EA ready integrations for ShipShaper. For Bulwark players, you can check out some of that work in the beta workshop, read more about that here: But this summer is going to be fun so a few announcements: Release date moved up to September 2nd. Woooho,, basically a marketing opportunity opened up and its coming a day sooner ShipShaper will be at The Gamescom Indie Arena Booth next week!! And I'll be there all week.See you there and come say hi! New update for the demo:Expanded updates to Aircraft Carrier theme Hull partsTwo Aircraft for carriers (use the vertical drag handle to toggle between them)Pennants and Pirate flags for the demo Create flags on certain stays and mast top , full game has pennants, signal flags , pirate flags and historical flagsImprovements to turret and superstructure...
Read full update on Steam ↗Hi everyone. In between the Early Access release date (3 September), I am doing a lot of development. But some of this is on the Shipshaper to Bulwark pipeline. Here's a quick short on that:That's all cool and workshop is going to be backbone of both shipshaper and Bulwark. One click export to Bulwark. It will also power the leaderboards and challenges. However that means the Demo cannot have the new leaderboard features, cuz Demos cannot read the workshop of the main app (sigh). But I still did a small demo beta update (Go to game properties/betas and select development beta branch and wait for it to update) - fixes how some superstructure items such as the quarter gallery and extension drags along the sides.. less mouse control jank -adds centerline snap for gun emplacements-a bunch of other small improvements that have been test driven on a closed beta -some new items including a c...
Read full update on Steam ↗Hi Everyone Time for a brand new Demo update. This might be the last demo update until launch (bar bugs). It's been cooking a good while and if you want to see all of this in action, check my video update. TLDR: I fixed a ton of issues and bugs, but also added a few more historical inspired guns to showcase the game will also focus on historical ships, not just fantasy or Falconeer Chronicles stuff. Historical items are going to be a huge part of Shipshaper. I would say that I am mostly focusing on pre 1900s , pre -dreadnaught ships. This includes A lot of age of sail focus (as you may have noticed). So Shipshaper is going to be tied to bulwark via an export function, but that's also because it does fit that world also.. But its also just a general purpose "ship shaper" .Anyways, don't forget to Wishlist or leave a review for any of my games, it's always appreciated and more (really b...
Read full update on Steam ↗Hi everyone, It's been a while since an update was promoted from beta to release, so it's about time. This major update to ShipShaper tackles a number of things, and there is some updates for features that won't be in the demo , but are exciting regardless. Item detail and filter menuThis is a UX improvement that adds a way to scroll through all the item options available and swap them out, and it comes with filters you can set, so if you just wanna scroll windows for instance. Extrusion RailsThese seem like simple shapes at first, but they are very functional at creating platforms, overhangs and covered walkways. As seen here, also notice there's a new thin railing that works great for this. But folks have been using rails to create extreme shapes for a while, this is my attempt on supporting their efforts with some bespoke rail tools. here's a video about this update!.But there's mor...
Read full update on Steam ↗Hi everyone, This update has been cooking for a bit, basically its a collection of bugfixes and performance improvements. There is a small bit of new content, in the sense that you can now stretch the gun barrels by dragging out the arrow you use to rotate the guns. enjoy, let me know if something is bugged! Cheerio, Tomas
Read full update on Steam ↗Hi Everyone. This monday I accidently wiped the weekly leaderboard without promoting the top 10 to the greatest of all time. I am exceptionally sorry for that bit of fail. So besides the perfomance and QoL improvements, this week got some new content. 1. Torpedo Bows, two new bows which fit the weekly theme of a Torpedo boat. One of which actually connects to the turtle deck hull. Check out the types of subs you can now make.2. A general update to bendy/hull shape following castles, I've removed every castle following the contour cuz quite often its not what you want, and added a very specific castle the 'hull hugging square castle and the quarter gallery is also contour following. In the below image both, but also a regular straight castle at the front, to show you the difference. I hope this is an improvement and gives you better versatility. The square castle is also very angular a...
Read full update on Steam ↗Hi everyone, this one took a little longer but a big new update is finally here.. Lets go thru all the stuff: The Interface has gotten a few new things. A few notes first:In the old version every color needed to be somewhat unique so the colortheme and underlying performance optimisations could quickly identify parts of the ship, this has been stripped completely , colors can now be 100% identical across the theme sections of the shipthere is no labels yet, but that is mostly about localization cost and the UI still evolving, but the final version will have labelsThe color wheel also contained a bunch of bugs , hopefully these are now all addressed and it should behave consistently New Stuff!Decking controls directly to the right of the color wheel, these are now independent and you can change the angle, size and spacing of the deckingplanking, rivets and strut controls, New procedura...

Main event besides a lot of fixes and improvements, a little help button that shows the keybindings and basic controls.. sorry I didn't have that earlier. Read full update on Steam ↗Hi everyone, so thursday say the announce and release of the Demo, and it's been quite overwhelming. The discord (https://discord.com/invite/falconeer) is now filled with battleships galore (you all seem to really like battleships.:). And with it has come a lot of questions, request and feedback. Now in the demo you will see I slapped the word Evolving on it. This means ,it's only the beginning.... So a few top requests I've seenAirshipsA bottle for the ships..
