Crescent Break is a roguelike that mixes NES-era robot hero goodness with indie classics. Try again and again to survive longer in fully destructible, ever-shifting levels loaded with robots, deadly traps, screen-filling bosses, and fickle aliens. There are many deadly surprises which you must use skill, experience, and luck to learn to eventually overcome!
The scraps from enemy robots can be used and upgraded to cause chain reactions and destruction. Upgrades create interesting and over-the-top synergies that make runs chaotic and unique! The game features permadeath, procedurally generated levels, randomized abilities, and many unique and novel ways to die.
Randomized robotic upgrades greatly transform the experience. The robots burst into scraps which heal, replenish attacks, cause damage, and start chain reactions... which can all be modified in various ways through upgrades. Synergies will create ridiculous powers, sometimes in unusual ways, but you may need such abilities to survive all the way through.
Crescent Break combines a large variety of retro and newer influences into something unique. Punishing situations can end a run instantly, but if you survive you might be able to find almost game-breaking abilities. Use everything at your disposal including your curiosity and retro game talents. Dig deeper into the game's systems and uncover another helpful... or harmful... surprise.

We've been working on lots of new things but most of those will have to wait until Early Access release! RELEASE DATE! We now have a release date for Early Access!! The game will be available on September 15, 2026! MAC AND LINUX POSTPONED We've decided to postpone Mac and Linux builds until after Early Access when we do the full game launch. Unfortunately in the game engine we're using it's difficult to export for all platforms, so if you're playing in Early Access you'll have to either use Windows or Windows-to-Linux compatibility options. If you've already been able to play the demo or playtest then you're good to go! THE PATCH If you found the full-screen effects too difficult on your eyes, we've added 3 new accessibility options to control their intensity! You can now go to the graphics section of the settings to reduce their intensity or disable them completely. We've also added...
Read full update on Steam ↗Another quick new patch, hooray! We’ve got two main changes. We updated the tutorial, because there are things we’ve added since making the tutorial, so now the tutorial is caught up! We also added a big funky effect when you level up! Levelling is a powerful system mechanic especially for longer runs, but we didn’t yet have visual/audio feedback to match its importance.... until now! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45973547/386f4394485d764678cd0d366535c98456ccfeb7.gif Demo Version 0.06 Changelog: new big visual effect when you level up expanded and refined the tutorial fixed an issue with the exploding barrel projectiles shows explosions under “killed by” in death screen instead of “????” can no longer look up or down when in the air

Read full update on Steam ↗Come check out the latest version of the playtest!! There are A TON of changes, many to do with new systems we've added that will result in a much deeper and more strategic game that rewards finding ways to power yourself up! We'll leave it there and let you read the list of changes to see what's new. Next up we're focusing on aesthetic polish, replacing placeholder art, balance, and we'll be moving from "playtest" to "demo"! Little heads up: save data before full release may not always transfer due to changes to the game. Playtest v0.03 changelog: Main additions: Press DOWN to pick up attacks and items manually. Keyboard controls have been changed. New leveling system! Points level you up within a run for more attack power and defence, making points very important to get! Read full update on Steam ↗We made a ton of changes so we're going to just list the main things below instead of everything. This time around we’ve focused on clearing up some key issues people have brought up (thank you for all feedback so far and in the future!), namely improving readability by darkening the background and making it less easy to accidentally pick up new attacks and items you don’t want to. We’ve also added more to the game such as new attacks and new dangers. Now that we have some things out of the way, for the next patch we’re excited to really dig into making the game feel much more deep and strategic. (more on that at the bottom)Changelog for Playtest Version 0.02 (incomplete list):You now must PRESS DOWN to pick up attacks and disks, instead of just touching them."Break" is the new name of the ability that used to be called "Charge" (to avoid confusion with charging).Added multiple new att...
