StateOS 0.2: Campaign Strategy UpdateThis update brings the new election campaign system into the main game, alongside improvements to government, legislation, politician development, election night, and the World Archive. The biggest change is how you fight an election. Campaigns now have their own full-screen workspace, with the map at the center, your actions beside it, and clearer feedback about the voters you are winning and losing. Your platform, team, local networks, and opponents all have a more visible part in the race.A New Election Campaign ExperienceCampaigns now open from Your Desk on the Dashboard. The old main Campaign tab has been replaced by a full-screen campaign workspace. Read full update on Steam ↗Election Campaign UpdateThis update brings a new election campaign system to StateOS. Based on player feedback, campaigns now put more emphasis on your platform, voter support, and the places that decide the race, with less routine management between decisions.Originally the game had been built on TPP for design reference, but during the re-design I decided I needed to go into a different direction, focused on strategy instead of operations.A new campaign from start to finishCampaigns now progress through three stages:Setup and introduction: choose your home base and prepare your campaign. Hiring staff and publishing a platform are optional, and staff salaries do not drain your funds during the setup phase.Build broad support: raise funds, recruit volunteers, reach voters, and develop your support across the electorate.Target the battlegrounds: use the campaign map to see where you le...

Read full update on Steam ↗General NotesHi everyone, been a bit since the last progress update but I have a lot to share. The update is essentially finished as of July 15th. I could release it early, but I'm doing final rounds of any rare bugs that may still exist in very long campaigns, and final changes to UI that I'd maybe want to make. You can expect the update to release on July 30th as usual for both the demo and the main version of the game.I also have a proper roadmap now for the game, and I expect to release the game into EA around update 0.4 or 0.6. So early 2027 or next summer.I already have begun work on 0.2 which will be released on September 30th. Each subsequent update will be roughly 2 months in advance. You'll notice store page changes right before the 30th as I'll need to replace the old screenshots with the new update screenshots and also a new trailer for the game.I also have changed the price...
Read full update on Steam ↗StateOS v0.1 Foundation Alpha Release DateHi everyone,I have another update regarding the new update and looking at my progress giving myself a lot of extra time in case I'd need it, the release date is planned for July 30th 2026.StateOS v0.1 Foundation Alpha is a stable version of the game with some new features from the current experimental Alphas but those features are specifically core gameplay choices and QoL features. As for a progress report I would say the current update is 60% complete. With election systems complete. Last remaining changes to the campaigns in the game. Legislation is also in a good state, but I have not confirmed it is bug free yet, but it looks like it mostly is. I will have to make a few game design changes for legislation before it can be considered finished. The new map system is complete. Many systems have been rewritten and changed for robustness and fut...
Read full update on Steam ↗A New Stable Version Of The GameHi everyone, as I mentioned in April, I'd be working on a update of the game roughly being released in July. I'm on track to meet that and also as mentioned before this is not a content update. I have been aware of the bugs and the state of the game, hence why I'm making this post and to let you know I'm still working on the game.I've been busy at work thinking about the game itself in terms of the architecture and identifying the main bottlenecks currently in the game engine. After a while of trying to fix the large bug surface area mainly caused by state management in the front end, I decided to make some important changes to the game itself which will be within in this update.Think of this update more as a means of having a stable non-experimental version of the game that can be playable for long periods of time with little bugs. What Is Changing?Most...
Read full update on Steam ↗Hi everyone,Haven't posted or been around in a while so I figured I'd drop a status update on the game.I'm still working on the project, but I'm going to be taking things slower and also much more seriously. In July I'll be launching a major update to the game it won't be a feature addition update. I've added enough to the game for now. At this point what is important is that the game is playable as of right now, I can't say it is.The engine upgrade did help in some ways as it did, but it didn't fully solve all of the issues with the game. My development process had been so far more about figuring things out as they go.The major target for this next major update is stability over everything else.Besides that, I'm very busy nowadays, if you couldn't tell. I work for several companies now doing a lot of high level work, but I still have some time to work on the game.I will give another s...

Read full update on Steam ↗V0.0.34: How Demographics Determine Party PopularityThe Coalition SystemEvery region in StateOS has different groups of voters called coalitions. Think of coalitions as voting blocs - groups of people who tend to vote similarly based on where they live, their age, education, and values. The Five Demographic DimensionsEach coalition is defined by five demographic characteristics:1. Location - Where they liveurban - City centers (70%+ urbanization)suburban - Suburbs and small cities (30-70% urbanization)rural - Countryside and small towns ( 70%: penalty = max(0.60, ...)RuralUrbanization > 30%: penalty = max(0.50, (100-urbanization)/70)Example: Urban Progressives in a 40% urban area get a 0.57× penalty (40/70 = 0.57).Coalition Modifiers (Runtime)Beyond demographics, each coalition instance has runtime modifiers:1. Volatility (0.15 - 0.50) How much this coalition swings between elections.T...
Read full update on Steam ↗Fixes:Integration of the advancement logic for many systems right before the patch caused performance issues. I had to spend time re-writing and configuring a lot of the time advancement related code. The issue was multiple factors including data transfer speeds, unnecessary data processing and computation.I will need to do further performance changes as I have not fully implemented the performance features from the previous engine. The architecture once finally finished will really show you the performance gains which should be much faster than the previous setup.Worked on party popularity results for conservative and liberal parties within the United States per county and per state. Modified several states including Georgia, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Vermont, Hawaii, D.C, Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.Fixed wild swings that would happen towards li...
Read full update on Steam ↗V0.0.34 Early Look Patch NotesWarning: Old politicians, saves, and more may not work properly as the game's engine and architecture has been re-written for future performance, scale, ease of development, less bugs and unpredictable behavior.A beta branch has been added to the game for this early look update. This early look is earlier than I expected and many features are simply not fully complete yet and won't work properly.I also made some progress on the Mac and Linux versions of the game. I had originally planned to release a Mac version for this update and onward but I ran into other issues with the Mac version. I hadn't looked into it fully. As for Linux, I basically can make a experimental Linux build for the game now. I'll have to see when I want to actually make the experimental Linux build.Over the next few weeks I'll be working on completing this update to match prior parity...
Read full update on Steam ↗V0.0.34 Release Date - January 15thV0.0.34 is a massive update and I've made significant progress on it. V0.0.34 is running on a completely new engine that is much more stable, performant, and allows for 3D maps. I have also switched to using a database for managing much of the data for the game project. It is the last kitchen sink update for the project.A full feature list of V0.0.34 will be out in the future. V0.0.34 should also be pretty stable and bug free thanks to the new architecture. Because the game has been essentially re-written from scratch code wise almost, and the new architectural decisions you will most likely have to re-create parties, politicians, scenarios, and saves. This will be the last game breaking change from a software perspective so going forward you won't have to worry about losing your saves, politicians, and other previous data.V0.0.34 also includes 3D map...
Read full update on Steam ↗Bug Fixes:Made sure State Representative elections were being properly generated.Did some changes to prevent the player for running for a different Senate seat from another state. This should also apply to House of Rep elections as well. I'm not sure if it is going to be 100% fixed since I could not replicate it but I did some changes to hopefully prevent it.Scenario editor bug where equal distribution was happening when you tried to get new party popularity from modifying coalitions.Known Bugs:Party popularity in counties may not match the state party popularity. I couldn't replicate this bug, so I'd need more information to fix this one.
Read full update on Steam ↗Additions:Scenario Editor UI overhaul and changes to party popularity. It aggregates from coalitions automatically and you have to now edit the secondary regions to get the party popularity so that the maps are correct and things work properly however the UI has been overhauled to make creating scenarios way easier.Bug Fixes:5% freeze where custom parties weren't creating ideology ids. This has been fixed. All parties now have ideology ids but also added defensive checks to prevent crashes. I would recommend if you are having issues with custom parties to create a new one and do some testing to see if the 5% freeze and 51% freeze has been fixed. I have not been able to replicate this bug on my end which I find to be utterly bizarre.Bugs I'm Working On:Making sure if you don't change the budget it doesn't say it increased by the total amount of the department.

V0.0.33 was a massive update with almost all of the game's code re-written so you can imagine that would be a bit rough for bugs.I'd recommend giving the game another test run but hopefully this time the game will be much more bug free. While a stable version is not yet ready, the stable version for V0.0.33 is coming along quite nicely and should be out within a week or so.Additions & New FeaturesNew Country Added: Germany is now playable in the demo, including state and national-level elections.New Election Systems: Upgraded all elections to the new, unifie...
