About this game

About the Game

DJ Life Simulator is a DJ game that doesn't just let you play as a DJ: it teaches you how to become one for real, using the same techniques professional DJs use every night.

Play with mouse and keyboard, or plug in a compatible USB/MIDI DJ controller and mix on real hardware. Learn step by step in the Academy, then take your skills from house parties all the way to festival main stages, while a living crowd reacts to every transition you make.

Every mechanic was designed to work outside the game. Here, you don't just play: you learn, practice and grow as a real DJ.

Key Features

26 interactive lessons , from your first crossfader transition to mixing by ear with Sync off

Career mode with 6 venues, 18 episodes and more than 100 missions

A living crowd with music tastes, auras, fans and live comments about your set

Real DJ controller support: Pioneer DJ (AlphaTheta) plug-and-play, plus Serato, Hercules, Numark and supported Traktor models

70+ included tracks from real independent artists, or import your own music and Rekordbox library

Beat FX, filters, loops, harmonic mixing, gain control, headphone cue and more

Online ranking , Steam Achievements and a shop to customize your DJ

Compatibility

DJ Life Simulator supports a wide range of MIDI-compatible DJ controllers.

Pioneer DJ (AlphaTheta) controllers work plug-and-play , with no configuration required. Controllers from Serato, Hercules, Numark, and supported Traktor models are also compatible and only require a one-time MIDI mapping.

Check the compatibility table below for the current list of tested devices. If your controller isn't listed, download the free demo and give it a try. If you need any help, our community on Discord is always happy to help.

Please note: Controller support keeps improving during Early Access. All core mixing features are supported, including headphone cue (pre-listening) . Some hardware-specific functions, such as Performance Pads , are still in development and will arrive in future updates.

Academy Mode: Learn for Real

Enter the DJ Academy and learn through 26 interactive lessons , split into Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Expert levels.

Learn about:

Beats, bars and phrases

Crossfader and volume fader transitions

EQ and frequency control

Gain and master volume control

Filters

Beat FX, including Echo and Reverb

Harmonic mixing

Loops

Headphone cue

Beatmatching by ear with Sync off

Ending a set

Track selection

All lessons are fully gamified and structured step by step, so complete beginners can start from zero while more advanced techniques are introduced gradually, like using Echo and Reverb Beat FX in transitions, build-ups, drops and set endings.

The game teaches you not only how to use these tools, but when to use them musically , rewarding proper timing and technique. Every skill you develop here is designed to transfer to real DJ equipment.

A DJ Setup That Evolves With You

You don't need to learn every control at once.

The DJ setup adapts to your current skill level : it starts with only the essential controls and unlocks new layouts as you progress, from Essential to Expert , adding EQs, loops, gain, filters and Beat FX along the way.

Career Mode: From House Parties to Festival Stages

Start by playing for your friends at a house party, land your first real gig at a smoking pub, and work your way through bigger and bigger clubs until you headline an open-air music festival.

Every venue brings its own episodes and real DJ problems to solve: drunk guests leaning on your gear, annoying song requests, a broken Sync button, a messy mixer left by the previous DJ, and even a festival with no waveforms where you'll have to beatmatch by ear.

Complete more than 100 missions , earn money, gain fans, unlock new gigs and build your reputation. Bigger events require better technique, better track selection and a stronger ability to read the dancefloor. The better you perform, the faster your career grows.

You will also face minigame challenges based on situations real DJs go through, training your attention and multitasking skills.

Performance Statistics

At the end of each set, get a detailed breakdown of your performance:

Technique score and every trick you performed

Completed missions

Crowd reaction

Technical mistakes

Money and fame earned

You'll see exactly where you improved and where you still need to get better, so you grow with every set.

A Living Crowd: Learn to Read the Dancefloor

The crowd in DJ Life Simulator is not just a background animation. It is alive and it reacts to you.

Every person on the dancefloor has musical preferences, and you can spot them by the clothes they wear.

Play the right tracks to keep the energy high, experiment to win over different types of people, and learn how DJs read the dancefloor. The crowd's reaction reflects your technical and musical decisions through their dancing and their aura indicators.

And they talk about your set. Nail a great transition and someone will shout "That DJ is awesome!". Clip the sound or empty the dancefloor, and you'll hear about that too.

As your fame grows, your own fans start showing up, wearing T-shirts with your DJ logo. They'll dance to almost anything you play, and only your mistakes will make them leave.

Your Style, Your Journey

Spend the money you earn at gigs to customize your DJ: body, clothes, headphones, dances and more.

Upload your own DJ logo and wear it on your T-shirt. It is also your picture in the online ranking.

Online Ranking

Compete with DJs from all over the world in the online ranking. Show off your DJ logo and social links, see where you stand and invite your Steam friends to play.

Music: Included Tracks or Your Own Library

The game comes with more than 70 tracks from real independent artists , across Tech House, Techno, Psytrance, Minimal, House, Progressive and Trance, including a Streamer Friendly playlist.

You can also practice and perform with your own music library . DJ Life Simulator supports MP3, WAV, FLAC, AIFF and M4A files.
