About this game

Description

Supplied by the Steam store

IdleOS is an idle hacking game played through a life-like command line. Type commands, spin up virtual machines and build an operation that mines, parses, cracks and matches its way from a high school student's records to classified government servers, and keeps running whether you're watching or not.

Run the whole operation

Every skill feeds the next. Mine logs, parse it into usernames and encrypted passwords, crack them, match them into credentials, then compile everything into the payloads you need to hack. Every process runs on its own, and VM windows let you keep several of them cranking at once.

42 processes across Mining, Parsing, Cracking, Matching, Phishing, Decoding, Compiling and Hacking

Open VM windows to run processes side by side

Overclock for speed, but watch the temperature: overheat and everything slows to a crawl

Phish for combat supplies with Spear, Whaling, Smish and long-running Traps that keep filling even while the game is closed

Upload your way up

Every location has an upload goal. Package what you've made, let it upload in the background, and complete the goal to gain access to the next location, with new targets, new processes and new upgrades waiting inside.

Keeps working while you're away

Close the game and your operation keeps going. Come back to processes that kept running, resources that kept piling up and progress waiting to be spent. Background Services upgrades extend how long IdleOS works offline, all the way up to 24 hours.

Real terminal commands

No buttons, no menus. Everything happens in the terminal: cd into a skill, mine -logs to start a process, ssh cracking badge to fire up a VM, ls to check your haul. Quick to learn, satisfying to master.

Hacking auto-battler

Payloads get you in. Your build keeps you in. Fights play out automatically while you manage the battle: SQL Injectors chip through firewalls and integrity, Packet Spoofs keep your anonymity up, and the Hacking Mods you compile yourself change how every fight goes.

30 unique targets across 6 locations: School, Lawfirm, Hospital, Bank, Police and Government

Build your own Mods and equip them to take down tougher targets

One-time exploit items for when a fight turns against you

Gather intel on a target to weaken its defenses before you strike

Hard Mode targets for anyone who thinks they've mastered the system

Upgrade everything

Every skill has its own packages. apt install your way from v0.0 to v6.0 with 100+ upgrades: faster processes, better odds, more VM windows, and major-release capstones that unlock new modifier commands for each skill.

Try it now

The free demo covers the School: every skill up to level 10, the Student and the Student (Hard). Your progress carries over to the full game.
