WELL DWELLER is a dark fairy-tale metroidvania made by the creators of Crypt Custodian and Islets!
Play as Glimmer - a tiny bird armed with a matchstick- who must burn the wicked queen to save his family. Explore a dark fairy-tale landscape and befriend the charming characters who reside in the kingdom’s underbelly. Battle terrifying beasts and gain new abilities to expand your map. Solve puzzles, discover secrets, and unravel the mysteries that lie in this rotted kingdom.
Among the rotting ruins are a charming cast of characters just trying to get by. Go camping with Ilda, a tiny mouse who is on the run from the queens grasp. Explore an abandoned castle with Looter, a mysterious scavenger who searches the kingdom for the best wares to steal. And find and reunite with all of your sheltered siblings who were snatched up one night by a crazed hunter.
Light up your matchstick to illuminate the world and aid in combat. Collect trinkets to upgrade your abilities, and mix-and-match them to customize your game play. Solve puzzles, defeat vicious bosses, and forge your path to the queens quarters to save your family.

A second patch has been released with some bug fixes and small changes
I've been hard at work on a new patch with some more bug fixes and small changes! Patch notes are below: BUG FIXES: -Some players did not receive their trinkets as a reward for returning lost spirits. If this happened to you, loading into the game with the new build should now add these missing trinkets to your inventory. This bug likely happened if you left the room before collecting the reward. -Fixed a bug where it would replay your death animation if you teleported while dying. -Fixed a bug where entering the spa water did not heal the player -Fixed an issue where the pricing of items in the shop sometimes did not match -Fixed a bug where healing during a "Complete without taking damage" challenge would end the fight.-Removed a leftover debug that skipped the storyline involving piecing Looter back together.-Fixed some spots where the player could get stuck -Fixed a bug where the...

Thank you all so much for such an amazing launch day! I am extremely grateful for all the support, and I am really happy seeing all the feedback coming in from the game. The response has been so much more than I expected, and I'm working hard to respond to every one and also put out a first patch.I've been listening to all your feedback and I've been working on a first patch, in order to address what seem to be the most important changes (bugs, missing rebinding keys, screenshots and video recording via Steam not working, a save issue, etc), and then I will work on another patch with some less urgent changes afterwards. It's been a busy day or two, but as you read this post the first patch should be available! I have a lot more on my todo list, but I wanted to get a quick patch up to fix some of the larger bugs at launch.Prevented a possible save corruption if you pause the game on the...

I wanted to put out one small update on the demo before Next Fest with a few changes based on common feedback: 1. I made some additional changes to the bubble mechanic. I changed some level design to make the onboarding a lot more gradual, and I redesigned some of the more frustrating rooms. I also added in some slight aim assist in certain spots where the movement is otherwise a bit finicky. I'll play around with this all a bit more, but I wanted to make some quick changes on that now.2. In a couple optional challenge rooms that are far from save points, I added in some additional healing spots.3. Some other small bug/localization fixes. Thanks for checking out the demo and for giving all your feedback! I really appreciate it,-Kyle

Hey everybody! This is just a quick update note to say that the Well Dweller demo has been updated! Although the content broadly stays the same, there have been some bug fixes, quality of life improvements, and some smoothing based upon feedback to earlier versions of the demo and private playtesting. There are some additions though, which are the inclusion of a postbox where you can recieve letters from the characters you meet, and the ability to replay time trials.Lastly, to note, Well Dweller will be taking part in Steam Next Fest beginning on June 15! If you didn't get a chance to try the game yet, or only partially completed a play through, now's a great time to return to it! Thanks for all your support!
Read full update on Steam ↗A small demo update has gone live!
Thanks so much every one for playing the demo and giving your feedback! I just uploaded a small update on the demo with three changes based on common feedback:Some players experienced a silent crash, either during loading, or immediately after the intro cutscene. This is hard to debug since I can't recreate it, but I think I fixed it so let me know if you still experience this crash in the newest build!I had a lot of comments on the bubble mechanic being a bit hard to aim. I made a couple small changes there which allow the movement to be more forgiving and I also updated the UI to make it easier to tell how close you need to get to the bubbles and which direction to aim.I added a tiny bit of "coyote time" onto the oil flask healing mechanic. There is already an early trinket (you can find it in the demo in the hunters cabin) that can allow for a much larger window, and the mechanic b...
