‘The Five are gathering power. Soon they’ll return to the world. Then only the Blood Sword can stop them.’
From the creators of Fabled Lands comes Blood Sword , a tactical RPG adapted from the cult-classic gamebooks by Dave Morris and Oliver Johnson .
In Blood Sword, you take control of four heroes, each with skills that complement one another. Move them across the hex grid, set up deadly combos and unleash devastating powers, but be wary of the cost: an Enchanter's spell can backfire, and the Sage's healing is paid for with the Sage's own life. Werewolves, snow vampires, a many-headed hydra and a doppelganger wearing your own face - all of them require a unique approach.
It is said that the year 1000 will be a time of storms and bloody battle. It is then that the gates of Spyte will open, and the True Magi are fated to return to the world. The Blood Sword lies in three pieces, spread across the lands. You set out on a desperate quest from the frozen north of Krarth to the Warlock King's palace in a twilit world of dreams, to a city of spires and domes beside an azure bay, and on into the land of the dead. Your goal is clear, but you must forge your own path to it. Who will live, and who will die?
Build your party from four classes: a Warrior, a master of the fighting arts sworn to the code of chivalry; a Trickster, who lives by their wits and will happily shoot a foe in the back; a Sage, raised in the spartan Monastery of Illumination on the barren island of Kaxos or in the deserts of Opalar; and an Enchanter, who knows that true power lies in sorcery.
Pick and choose from more than forty class skills as your heroes rise in rank . Complete an act, and your heroes and their progress carry over to the next part of the story.
Five difficulty settings allow you to customise the challenge of both story and combat. Would you like to raise the stakes? On Tactician, a lost battle cannot be fought again, and a fallen hero dies once and for all unless a means of resurrection is found. On Ironman, every decision is irreversible as well. Not every hero will live to see the sword made whole.
Whether you are drawn to these cursed lands by the call of adventure or by the glimmer of gold in the dark, your fate will surely be the same. Fight your way through thorny forests, haunted cathedrals and ruined crypts, and uncover the secrets the Magi left behind. Then descend into the labyrinthine Battlepits beneath Kalugen's Keep, where fame and fortune await the adventurers who return with the Emblem of Victory. You must return with it to the surface... or die.

I have been blown away by the reception of the demo, and the wishlist counter has now passed 7,000. Two weeks ago I confessed to refreshing the stats page like a madman, and I would love to tell you I have calmed down since, but I am still at it, as if I haven't released games for the past 7 years already. For a lone developer the excitement is always pumped up to the sky :) Behind the curtains I am grinding full days, six days a week, to keep bringing you a better version of the game, and today's demo update, version 0.3.1, changes the very way your adventure begins. A new start in the forest camp I am listening to your feedback, and the first ten minutes of a demo are when a player decides whether to stay, so I changed how the game begins. The adventure now opens...
Read full update on Steam ↗Blood Sword was never just an English series. From the very beginning, it travelled across borders and languages, finding devoted readers in different countries, each with their own editions, terminology, and memories tied to these books. That multicultural life is part of what kept the series alive long after its original release, and it’s something I want to preserve in the digital adaptation. The end of the year felt like the right moment to pause and refocus. I released a new Fabled Lands expansion on November 27th, and with that milestone behind me, I can now dedicate more time and attention back to Blood Sword, with the clear goal of getting the demo out and doing justice to the foundations being laid. With that in mind, I want to share an important localisation update. The first two official languages supported beyond English will be Italian and Bulgarian. Italian will use the...
