    Post-Next Fest Insights + Demo Update v1.1.11

Steam Next Fest Is Over!Well... Steam Next Fest is officially behind us.First of all, thank you very much to every single person who downloaded the demo, played it, streamed it, speedran it or simply took the time to leave feedback. Reading through hundreds of comments, bug reports, surveys, and discussions has been both incredibly rewarding and mildly soul-crushing (intended), but in the best way possible. As release gets closer, I wanted to deep dive into what happened during the recent Next Fest, what went wrong, what went right, and what I've already changed because of it.The Bad NewsIronically, despite the Demo v1.0 being the most polished version of the demo from a technical standpoint, it ended up being the least enjoyable version for players. Our average fun rating dropped to 3.55/5, compared to 4.56/5 across previous demo versions. That one definitely stung. After digging throu...

    Demo v1.0 + New Trailer!

Big news, Bound Souls!June 2026's Steam Next Fest is almost here, and months ago I made the ultimate decision to commit Soul Chained to it. Ever since, I've been working around the clock - not because I've gone mad, but because the alternative is admitting how much work I still have left.To celebrate this perfectly healthy development process, I've released a huge update for the demo alongside a brand-new trailer.Let's take a look at what's new.A Brand-new Trailer!Besides spending the last few weeks wrestling with the demo, I also decided to make a brand-new trailer.Have a look at the new trailer below!Final Final Demo Update - New Final.exe (?)I'm pretty sure this won't be the last "final" demo update. But after countless changes, tweaks, fixes and optimizations, I've finally reached a version of the demo I'm proud to showcase during Steam Next Fest. The Soul Chained Demo is now on Ve...

    Demo Update v1.8.3.7b

Hi guys,I've updated the demo, and with that, there are some serious improvements to the fluidity of combat. I've gone back to the drawing board to more closely match the "feel" of Elden Ring's combat. With that in mind, there's still some jank, but the changes are as follows:Faster stamina re-gen with less delay after performing actions.Speed increase on all weapons.Re-animation and retiming of short sword attacks.Re-animation and retiming of great sword attacks.Complete overhaul of strong attacks, now allowing you to charge them for additional impact.Less delay when pressing roll and quicker exit of attack animations.Greater level of rotation between attacks, allowing for more fluid and less clunky combat.Better hitstop effect keeps gameplay feeling heavy without being jarring.New jump attacks for both fast and strong attack presses.Plunging attacks when falling at a sufficient spee...

Demo Update v1.8.1.7b Tiny Teams Build

Hi all,Once again, the demo has seen some major changes, including new features, bug fixes, balance changes, chain physics adjustments, as well as overall quality of life improvements. Some of these changes include:Major overhaul of havoc mode, making it a more playable experience for 4 players. Major GPU, CPU, and RAM optimizations, meaning the Demo is now mostly playable on the Steam Deck (Using Potato Settings). UI scaling and inputs still need work to be fully Steam Deck-ready.Introduction of Chain Magic - currently allows a flammable chain to be used at the end of the demo.Improvements to chain physics consistency and predictability.Still to improve:Balancing in Havoc mode to make it more difficult, in line with the regular 2-player experience.Enemy AI behaviours - fixing/reducing the "run off cliffs" issue (maybe still keeping it a little bit since it's pretty funny when it happe...

Demo Beta now released v1.3.1b - Need feedback before v1.0 release

Hi to the small community I've managed to put together on here! This announcement is to say that the demo is finally at a point that is ready for feedback from all my wishlisters and fellow devs. Huge changes have been introduced since the first release of the demo, including real chain physics simulations and a bunch of combat features to go with that. Visuals have also been improved significantly, and the boss AI has been reworked. If you haven't seen the new trailer showcasing these features, please check it out on the store page. There is also a rudimentary single-player and 4-player mode (these are very experimental and not near the same level of completion as the two-player mode, but I kept them in the demo so you can mess around). Please give the new version of the demo a try! Looking forward to your feedback - please let it be known on the forum or contact me at kyroware.com I...
