I've been spending the last few days going through Satelital and fixing the remaining issues I've been able to find. It's been a long journey getting the game to this point, so it's really exciting to be so close to the final release now. I'm happy to share one more small update before launch!Small UX and art style fixesTweaked tonemapping for SDR and HDRFixed cursor highlight color in HDRFixed a few Vulkan performance issues with the frame limiter and texture loadingFixed Steam overlay colors on macOS YOU'RE GONNA CARRY THAT WEIGHT.
Read full update on Steam ↗With the final release getting closer, I've been working on a bunch of improvements based on your feedback. I'm happy to finally share this update with you. One of the biggest things I've been working on is Performance Mode. It includes specific shader optimizations to help laptops with integrated GPUs run the game at a more stable framerate. I've also added a framerate limit option to make it easier to get the best experience on different hardware. I've been going through player feedback as well, making adjustments to several puzzles and fixing little things that could make the experience better. There are also some quality of life improvements, including a hardware cursor for more responsive movement. This is especially useful when playing below your monitor's refresh rate. Here's everything included in this update:Puzzle design tweaks based on player feedbackPerformance Mode with s...
Read full update on Steam ↗Thank you to everyone who has played the demo so far! Next Fest has brought more attention to Satelital than I expected, and I'm really excited to finally release the full game on November 13 so you can explore the other planets. I've been watching people play the demo on stream and noticed a few UX issues and puzzles that needed some adjustments, so I've put together this update to address them. I've also continued working on performance optimizations and Im preparing a new graphics mode that I hope to have ready before release. Here's what's changed in this update:Tweaked a few puzzles in the starting areaAdjusted O's behaviour to make its rules a bit fairer to understandImproved camera behaviour and the default zoom when focusing on a puzzleAdded Alt+Enter to toggle fullscreenFixed a bug that allowed zooming while the Demo Complete dialog was openOpening the game's store page from...
Read full update on Steam ↗Well, I'm still trying to squeeze as much performance as possible before adding a new mode to reduce certain graphic effects for low powered devices. I hope this update make a difference for you if you where running the game on a laptop that struggled to maintain a stable framerate. Also Satelital is in the Steam Next Fest right now. If you haven't tried the demo yet, this is a good time to give it a go! Changelog:Better performance on Intel integrated GPUsLess VRAM and RAM usageImprove loading timesIncreased compatibility of the engine whith overlays coming from other softwareFix rendering issues in some shaders in some GPUsMore tweaking into camera zoom behaviour
Read full update on Steam ↗I've been working on improving performance and fixing a few graphics issues, especially for players having trouble running Satelital on laptops with integrated GPUs. This update might not be enough to make the game run well for everyone, but it should help. For example, the game can now run at a stable 90 FPS on the Steam Deck OLED. Here is the full list of changes in this build:Fixed a Windows GPU issue that could cause a black screen.Improved rendering performance by skipping unnecessary work and making better use of the GPU.Optimized shaders to improve performance across visual effects and planets.Improved frame pacing to reduce input lag and make gameplay smoother.Reduced CPU usage for audio processing.Fixed the HDR toggle turning off unexpectedly and reduced unnecessary screen updates when changing it.Fixed camera zoom issues in certain situations.Added a new Graphics section to...
Read full update on Steam ↗This update is mostly about HDR. I received a few reports of HDR not looking right on some displays, so I've spent the last few days refactoring and tweaking the tonemapping to make the colors really pop. HDR should now look much better and work correctly on a much wider range of displays. Here's what's new:Fixed HDR tonemapping for most displays. Previously, it only worked correctly on a limited number of monitors. The HDR toggle now automatically switches your display to HDR mode when available. No more need to enable it manually in your system settings.Added sliders to adjust HDR brightness and peak brightness.Fixed a bug that caused a black screen on some Nvidia GPUs.Updated translator credits.Other small bug fixes. If you play in HDR, please let me know what you think of the new update! I'd love to hear how it looks on your display.I'm still working on a performance mode for lower-p...
Read full update on Steam ↗Everytime I think I fixed every issue then I find a new one 😅 So here is a few more stuff that got cleaned, most importantly a frame pacing issue that improves performance by 20% (on my laptop) Fixed the cursor light appearing in the wrong position.Fixed the cursor displaying the wrong state in some cases.Fixed lighting on some SDFs caused by incorrectly oriented normals.Improved performance by preparing the next frame while the current one is still drawing. Now frames get presented 20% faster.
Read full update on Steam ↗Next Fest is coming up, so I spent the last few weeks polishing Satelital and fixing some of the rough edges. Here's what's new:UX and bug fixesAdded Dutch language supportNew gamepad mapping to be more intuitive and easier to remember (You can check the new controls in the menu)Separate the button for launching and landing planets to avoid triggering an unwanted behaviorIncreased zoom limitPuzzle focus level will be optimal based on the rows and columns in the puzzle to avoid too much unused spaceAudioAvoid decoding silent audio tracks (All audio tracks were being decoded even when silent, wasting CPU and causing audio stuttering in some cases.)Avoid sudden volume spikes on some sound puzzle eventsRendererIncreased compatibility with more GPUsShader performance optimizationsMore polishing and fixes are coming as I get Satelital ready for Next Fest! Can't wait to see how it goes!
Read full update on Steam ↗Over 2000 people have played the demo already! Thanks for all the latest feedback! I’ve just pushed a small update with a few fixes and improvements:Fixed gamepad left stick cancelling zoom in some casesTweaked puzzle zooming UX based on feedbackFaster initial loading timeFixed a few bugs when switching from gamepad to keyboardChanged the VSync presentation mode to avoid frame pacing issues on some GPUs I can also announce that I’m working on a performance mode for lower-powered devices. It’s not ready yet, as it’s a bit tricky to find the right balance between performance and visuals. I want to make sure it still provides the best experience possible.
Read full update on Steam ↗Just pushed a new update addressing some of the most common feedback from the demo. Thanks everyone who took the time to play and share their thoughts!Improved cursor lag and frame pacingBetter scroll accelerationMusic now starts playing before the game finishes loading, so you get some feedback on older hardware while the game is still starting upTweaked edit timeouts to avoid unwanted editsFixed a bunch of other minor UX and visual issuesReally appreciate all the feedback so far. It’s been very helpful in polishing the demo!
